New Books and a Movie

Birdman (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
Michael Keaton - Ed Norton - 2014

We were dying to see this movie as it got such rave reviews - 8.8/10 stars with its limited release. This weekend it made it to our cinemas, so we went to see it.  The movie was very different -- Michael Keaton plays a washed-up superhero who tries to make one final comeback.  The entire movie takes place on stage or in the dressing rooms basically.  The acting was fantastic, but in the end we were a little disappointed.  Should have gone to see St. Vincent.

Have (2) weeks worth of new books on my shelves. Have you read any of these?

Have a great week everyone!

  5. Too bad about Birdman- I always liked Michael Keaton but haven't seen him in much in recent years. I'm interested in Jane and the Twelve Days of Christmas. I just read a book similar to this recently, but this one sound good too.

  6. I was glad to see Keaton had returned to the screen after so long absent. He is an excellent actor. I wasn't sure from the previews if I would like the movie or not. Maybe I'll wait for it to come to netflix!

  7. Diane, enjoy your new books! Home looks enchanting. Thanks for your honest movie review. I'm running out of storage space for books, and have had to cut back (on print copies)!

  10. Jason really wants to see Birdman but last weekend was my choice and we went to see St. Vincent. One of my quiet favorites this year. Bill Murray is..perfect.

  11. We are hoping to get to see Birdman, too. But then we never did make it to Gone Girl which I had insisted we were going to on opening weekend. Maybe this weekend when we finally have free time we'll actually get to sit in a theater!
