3rd Sunday of 2020 Review

Well, finally almost (3) weeks into the new year and I finally seem to be falling back in routines, and, as a "creature of habit" this is so important to me.  I'm back to yoga (3x last week), reading, movies and catching up with old friends. We went to the movies to see Adam Sandler in Uncut Gems.

 can't recommend this one sorry

This week I caught up with some mini book reviews:
  1. The Guardians; John Grisham - 4/5 (audio/library/January)
  2. Surfside Sisters; Nancy Thayer - 4/5 (audio/library January)
  3. American Dirt; Jeanine Cummins - 5/5 (eGalley/January)
I finished:

Still Reading (and so enjoying):

New Book Started:

This Week's Plans:

This week I have yoga, a hair appointment and my book group, which hasn't met since October.  This month's book is one I had read previously but I really enjoyed : The Stars are Fire; Anita Shreve. (I really miss this author (I've read all of her books). I was so saddened when I learned that she had passed away in 2018 at age 71.

How was your week?

  1. I like routines, too, and also look getting out of them for a day or two.

Uncut Gems didn't really appeal to me so I'm glad to know I made the right decision is skipping it. I'd still like to see Ford versus Ferrari with my husband because I think he'd love it.

I've got to get my hands on Maybe You Should Talk to Someone.

  2. Looks like you had an excellent week! I’m curious about all the books you’re reading so I hope you enjoyed / are enjoying them! It’s the greatest sadness to have an author you adore and then find that no more books are forthcoming! I remember being saddened by the death of Anita Shreve. Even though I haven’t read any of her books, she was much loved among many bloggers.

  3. Always nice to be back in a routine, right? I went to yoga twice this last week and three times the week before. It was lovely. Hope this week goes well as you further get back to 'normal'...

  6. Oh yea, routines are the best. Those books sound good and we'd skip the movie anyways since we don't know the Adam guy.

  7. My past week was chaotic, but I am hoping to get back to routine this week. It is, almost literally, just what the doctor ordered!

    1. I'm not surprised. Personally, I think after a certain age, too much chaos isn't very healthy.

  8. Diane, I am interested in reading American Dirt, although I have way too many books in the queue already! Have a terrific week ahead!

  9. So glad to see that American Dirt received 5 stars! I'm eager to read that this year. Hopefully for book club. I have the Gladwell book on my nightstand, but may go with the audio, which I hear is outstanding. I am a creature of habit, as well. Love my yoga class (3x a week), too. Thanks for sharing about the Sandler movie. I like him in comedies, but this new one didn't appeal to me.

  10. My week was busy. Production weeks for shows always are. We are headed into week 2. I wish I didn't have to work during these weeks. I'm sure my daughter wishes she didn't have to go to school either.

I am finishing Big Little Lies. I was all geared up to read American Dirt but now there is a lot of controversy and Oprah just picked it for her club. People are asking for it to be boycotted!

    1. Yes, I read a few things that people are annoyed she received such a huge advance to write the book.

  11. Yeah I too was saddened by the loss of Anita Shreve. Ugh. I liked her novel The Weight of Water. Which was your favorite?

  12. Good for you for getting back to your yoga routine! I need to find some yoga classes near me. I really miss it. Can't wait to hear what you think of these books. I wasn't interested in seeing Uncut Gems so glad I'm not going to miss out on anything!

  13. Yay for being back to one's routines. New we can know what day it is! My husband saw Uncut Gems. He said all they did was yell. Hope you had a good week.

  14. My husband really liked Talking To Strangers and we had great discussions about what he'd read. We read The Secrets We Kept last November for my book group and we all liked it. Happy reading!
