Baby Bear; Kadir Nelson
2014 - Balzer & Bray - 2014
The story is about a very young bear who has lost his way and trying to get back to his home. He meet's several different animals along the way, each helps to build his confidence about his ability to find his way by trusting in himself. Very young children will enjoy the gorgeous illustrations, but may not understand the message, but older children (4-7) will benefit by both the visual as well as the message, in my opinion.
The wonderful illustrations of a gorgeous moon, loveable moose, lion, owl, bear, salmon and other creatures that baby bear meets along his journey are so precious, and who doesn't love a happy ending.
A must buy for every library and a wonderful addition to your child's collection as well.

Diane, I love the illustrations and the messages in this beautiful book.
ReplyDeleteI love Kadir Nelson's work! This book looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThis book does look beautiful. Thank you, Diane, because I wouldn't have found it otherwise. It almost makes me wish my children were younger, or I had grandchildren, so I could get this book for them! Gorgeous colours and illustrations, and it features animals. Everything a child could want in a book!
ReplyDeleteThe illustrations are beautiful. My grands will love this book.
ReplyDeleteI have this one on order. I can't resist anything by Kadir Nelson!
ReplyDeleteI must get this one for the gorgeous illustrations alone! Thanks for the heads up.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I got this yesterday and read it, and I have to confess: I don't get it! It seemed like Baby Bear was getting no help! and the message, trust in yourself? when you're a lost little kid? I didn't get it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely book -- the illustrations are gorgeous and the dialogues are sweet and comforting. An excellent book to read to a toddler who can see these animals and "hear" them talk to each other, helping Baby Bear find his way home through the dark forest. A very positive book.
