My daughter's 2nd knitting book (above) will be released in October. So we are very excited for both Melissa and Cecily. Their first knitting book, New England Knits, went into 2nd printing after selling all of  the first 17,500 copies before Christmas 2010.

Just a brief moment of mom's bragging rights, because I'm squealing so please humor me. (Hey, it's their first book, but not the last!)

 

The new book has been the # 1 Knitting Book on Amazon this past week.

and look at the gorgeous scarf that my special girl gave me this week. It was an extra creation that made the photo shoot, but did not make the book. It is so soft and one of my favorite colors -- made with 50/50 silk and merino wool yarn. (I've been the lucky recipient of many such gifts in the past). Thanks again.

Sunday Salon - January 17, 2010 - Calling All Knitters!

 

So how was your week in books, and your week in general?

I finished a couple of books during the week that I still need to review: South of Broad; Pat Conroy (audio version) - very good, and Secrets of Eden; Chris Bohjalian (release date Feb. 2) - also very good.  I also signed up for the Mystery Read-a-thon this weekend (find 12 hours for reading), and I am enjoying it. It's nice to have a reason to do exactly what you want to do "read" without feeling guilty. So far I finished (2) mysteries (each was under 300 pages): Blacklands; Belinda Bauer - very good, and The End of the Road; Sue Henry - not that great :( I am also listening to the audio book: Shutter Island; Dennis LeHane in preparation for the movie release in February - enjoying the audio book as well. I also started The Red Door; Charles Todd, another mystery.

Plans for this week? I MUST read at least (1) book for my Books To Read Before I Die Challenge. I feel guilty that I am hosting this one, and so far have ignored my list of  (20) books that I committed to read in 2010.

Now for Some Big News - Calling ALL Knitters

My daughter Melissa is a self taught knitter. She and a friend have had their first book published. WOOHOO!!  The book is scheduled to be released this summer, but the photo shoot took place in July of 2009 in beautiful Newberryport, MA. You can see photos taken at the shoot HERE. We are so proud of this talented duo.
