  2. I love, love, love audiobooks. It's how I can stand to exercise! There are whole series that I have only "read" via my ears.

Mailbox Monday for me is/was The Kennedy Detail by former Secret Service agent Gerald Blaine. It's (obviously!) about the Kennedy Assassination. Great details about the JFK presidency and the assassination and the workings of the agents (I'm utterly fascinated by the fact that in 1963 there were only about 40 people protecting JFK and his family. Can you imagine?) The book also talks about a trip JFK made to Florida just four days before Nov. 22 -- things happened in Florida that led to JFK being a much easier target for his assassin.

Great stuff! And very enjoyable, especially if you're a Boomer or older and lived through the time. (Others will like it too, but I think it resonates more with people who were alive when JFK was killed. Forty-seven years ago this month, can you believe it?

  3. Oops! Forgot to add that for something COMPLETELY different, tomorrow Barnes and Noble will be delivering the final installment in the Nora Roberts "bride" quartet, "Happy ever After." From assassination to a wedding romance -- quite the contrast!

  7. Diane, have you read Louise Penny's mystery series? If you have not, be aware that this book follows closely the previous book, THE BRUTAL TELLING, and has a lot of continuing storyline from that novel. Just saying....it's a wonderful book though. In my opinion, Louise Penny's writing is just an art form and I love, love, love her mysteries.

  15. I listened to my first audio book last month (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) and loved the experience. It was a free trial on Audible and I may continue. Looking at the great choices you received this week, my eyes are on "Bury Your Dead."
