Sunday Blatherings ~ one cute cat and several new books

Mid August and honestly, this week felt like fall - low 70's by day and 50's by night.  I am not complaining, but feel bad for anyone who paid a lot of money for beach front rental this week in New England.  I've been taking some long weekends - 1/2 days on Fridays and Mondays off and it's been great.

(4) years ago I posted this picture (left) of Rae the 3-legged kitten my daughter had adopted.  She's adjusted well, even now with a toddler and infant added to the family (although she like to sleep behind the sofa or as high up as possible some days).
Visiting yesterday I noticed Rae in a picture purrfect position. So here she is as 4+ years old (right).

Grandkids or Grandcats we love them all.

I donated several books this week to the free library boxes in my daughter's town, but I acquired several more in their place....you know how easy that his right?  Here's my new arrivals and I can't wait to dig in.

enjoy your week everyone!

  4. Your daughter's cat is still adorable after all these years. :-)

That is a fine haul of books. I'm very excited to hear more about the new Sarah Waters and Garth Stein books, and I'm looking forward to a copy of The Secret Place in my own mailbox. =D

And isn't it always the way that as soon as you get rid of some books they replace themselves and then some? I know I can't get ahead of mine, and I'm pretty sure I gave away *hundreds* last summer. :-x

  9. The cat is lovely and so glad she adjusted to the new kids in her family.
What a great stack you got there, nice! I read and enjoyed One Kick, I want to read We Are Not Ourselves, I've read and have on my Classics Club list A Tale of Two Cities, one of my fave classics to reread. Also, And Then There Were None, a good one! I read the first Tana French and wasn't sure about it but Trish @ Between My Lines highly recommends her, so I want to continue that series.
Have a great week and enjoy those incredible titles!

  13. Grandcat...I love it! Your books look so wonderful; I have Boy, Snow, Bird but of course I haven't read it yet. Then the library holds come in all at once. Just as I go in to begin school tomorrow, I've been notified that All The Light We Cannot a See is ready for pick up. What is that about?! It's like renting in New England during August and finding 50 temps. ;)

    1. So true about the library holds coming all at once. I picked up 4 audio books and one print today -- guess several will be returned unread.
