Here are a few pics -- I shot with my phone, but here are some better ones I found online..(More of Portland, Maine)
Old Port
Of course we had to bring home some pure, organic catnip toys for those who were left at home. We were quickly forgiven.

What a nice get-away weekend! We love Maine.
ReplyDeleteGreat roads and not the traffic of everywhere else as well.
DeleteI definitely see a connection to Europe in those top two photos. Hope they don't end up having the same problem Paris had with the love locks. I have a tiny piece of the Berlin wall. My husband and I traveled there in 1991, shortly after the wall fell. Love Portland, Maine too!
ReplyDeleteVery cool Paulita. I had just saw the situation with the LOVE LOCKS in Paris on the news.
DeleteI keep hearing people say they love Maine. I've never been there but would really like to one day!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a beautiful state Kathy, you must plan a trip.
DeleteWe enjoyed the pics too!
ReplyDeleteGlad u liked them Brian
DeleteSome years back, we (quite oddly) visited both Portland, Maine and Portland, Oregon the same summer. Loved them both. Visited Longfellow's tiny cramped home in Maine, I remember.

Deb, Now that much have been one beautiful summer -- both Portland's are incredible.
DeletePortland, Maine looks like my kind of town. Thanks for sharing. And thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteThose kitties are enjoying their treats!
You would love a trip to Maine Laurel -- anyone would.
DeleteBeautiful photos. I have never been to Maine--it's about as far as you can get from the Pacific Northwest and still be in the U.S.! I'd love to visit that part of the country.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment.

Sandy, and I've never visited Pacific NW sadly, my husband has on buisness and said it was lovely.
DeleteMaine is very lovely. But the cat photos are my favorites.
ReplyDeleteAwww, thanks --they are kinda special.
DeleteI would love to visit Maine! What beautiful pictures. It looks like you had a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteKatherine, I hope you put Maine on your places to visit list.
DeleteLooks like fun! I've been thinking of planting catnip but I'm afraid my cats would eat it as fast as it grew - and then lay around the backyard stoned all day!
ReplyDelete.Lisa....Your cats and the free roamining ones in the neighborhood...LOL
DeleteI loved living in Boothbay Harbor, Maine and we went to South Portland all the time as it was the biggest concentration of shopping (mall and outerlying stores) nearest to us.
ReplyDeleteWhere you went-- the city of Portland itself-- is hip, progressive, friendly, and fun to visit. Quirky shops and cafes. My youngest attended a few concerts there and we've taken walks by Old Port. I recommend it to anyone up that way, and so glad you had fun, Diane!
Booth Bay Harbor is lovely for sure. I also love Ogunquit, Wells, Kennebunk, well, heck I just love MAINE.
DeleteThree busy kitties. Love them!
ReplyDeleteThanks Anne.
DeleteLOL! Bribery. It's always a good thing when it comes to persnickety cats!
ReplyDeleteI just had coffee with a friend yesterday who was telling me about his trip to Oregon. It made me so wistful for the place I've never visited, but long for the peace and individuality I sense comes from there.
ReplyDeleteThat Berlin wall/poster is quite piercing. I taught in West Germany when the wall was still up, and I'll never forget its effect on the people.
Oh, we just love Portland! One of our favorite places :) Glad you had a nice trip - thanks for sharing it!

ReplyDeleteHa ha on me; my earlier comment asked if you watch the very funny Portandia on tv, but that is based on Portland, Oregon. I would like to visit Portland, Maine.
ReplyDeleteI've been to Maine, but not up to Portland, ME. I feel like I should, since it is the namesake of my (closest large) city!
ReplyDeleteImpromptu trips are the best. I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. Portland is one place I'd like to visit someday. I absolutely love the pics of the cats - how cute!
ReplyDeleteOh look at your cute cats! Glad you had a great time. Portland, Maine sounds like a fun place to visit. I've never been up to Maine, maybe one of these days.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun city! It's been years since I was in Maine. It might be time for another trip.
ReplyDeleteMy best friend from high school worked on a campaign there in college and fell in love. She goes back for vacation every year with her family. I really need to get there!
