DID NOT READ - I JUST COULDN'T DO IT!
Welcome to First Chapter/Intros, now hosted by Yvonne @ Socrates Book Reviews. Each week readers post the first paragraph (or 2) of a book they are reading or that they plan to read soon. I haven't read any political books over the last (4) years but, this is one that got my attention.
FORWARD The Real Donald Trump
"The President of the United States wanted me dead.
Or, let me say it the way Donald Trump would: He wouldn't mind if I were dead. That was how Trump talked. Like a mob boss, using language carefully calibrated to convey his desires and demands, while at the same time employing deliberate indirection to insulate himself and avoid actually ordering a hit on his personal former attorney, confidant, consigliore, and, at least in my heart, adopted son."
Curious or pass?
I was pretty interested in this one, given Cohen's formerly personal relationship with Trump!
ReplyDeleteThis is the only one, I even considered reading Greg. I took others from library but, couldn't stand the though of reading them once it was in my home LOL
DeleteThere are so many books out by former Trump confidants that it would be hard to decide which one to read. With that, Cohen seems to be a particularly interesting character. If I were to delve into such books, I would probably give this a try.
ReplyDeleteBrian, As I mentioned to Greg, the thought of reading more about that which was constantly in our faces turned me off. However, this one makes me want to try.
DeleteCurious, but I'll pass. I'm already in knots about this election and what will happen afterwards.
ReplyDeleteI understand and I may feel the same as I haven't started this yet.
DeleteOh, yes, this one should be good! Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteI' curious but, I haven't started it yet.
DeleteSounds fascinating!
ReplyDeletePass. We want nothing to do with politics or politicians or those who enable or glorify them.
ReplyDeleteI understand - I haven't been able to read and political books either yet, this one made me curious.
DeleteI've been flirting with this book, but will put it off for the moment. I've been seeking escapism rather than realism in my current reading.
ReplyDeleteI have not read any books about our current president nor about those who tried to serve him. Maybe about a decade from now I could, as historical curiosity.
ReplyDeleteLOL, Judy, I think we both know history will not be kind to #45.
DeleteInteresting intro. I've been wanting to listen to this one. I have the audiobook.
ReplyDeleteOh, I bet the audio will be good.
DeleteI don't take any book on current political figures very seriously because it's impossible to tell which ones are true, sort of true, or full of bull at this point. I do wish I could be around forty or fifty years from now to see how historians treat this period, but then I'd be about 120 years old. LOL
ReplyDeleteDefinitely piques my interest, amazing to see all of these accounts of Trump from the inside eh
ReplyDeleteI've had too much DT. I will give it a miss.
ReplyDeleteWow. I just can't read anything about that man. I just keep praying he will move off to a country where he can boss people around like he seems to want to do.
ReplyDeleteSomebody's gotta read them, I guess, but not me! Having lived through the Trump era, I don't feel a need for any further exposition.
ReplyDeleteYeah I couldn't read it either -- all Trump's cronies are all in the same slimy swamp as he is -- but boy I'm elated with the election result!
