The Kind Worth Killing; Peter Swanson
Harper Audio -2020

Chapter 1

TED

"Hello There," she said.

I looked at the  pale, freckled hand on the back of the empty bar seat next to me in the business class lounge at Heathrow Airport, then up into the stranger's face.

"Do I know you?"  I asked.  She didn't look particularly familiar, but her American accent, her crisp white shirt, her sculpted jeans tucked into knee high boots, all made her look like one of my wife's awful friends.

I started this yesterday and it's quite intense - detestable characters for sure but I'm liking it so far.

What do you think --read more or pass?

  6. I'd keep reading a bit more to see where the story goes, then decide if I wanted to keep going.

  7. I listened to this one a couple of years ago and thought it was very good. From my blog, "After I read Swanson's thriller Her Every Fear a few years ago, several friends suggested I read his early book The Kind Worth Killing. Many of those bloggers said it was better than Her Every Fear and now that I've read this one, I have to agree. I didn't like any of the characters, but thoroughly enjoyed this noir thriller, which is full of twists and turns that kept me guessing up until the very end. The audiobook is well done with a strong performance by four narrators, although there were a couple of times when I wasn't sure if I was hearing from Lily or Miranda's point of view. Other than that one minor complaint, this is a compelling, tautly crafted story. Highly recommend!"

  8. I'd like to continue. I am sure there is a tense story beyond this.
