Are you Addicted to the Internet??? Want to Find Out???
I've always known in some ways that I have an addictive personality. Sometimes too much food, other times too much shopping, but lately too much time on the internet. I actually think I would become seriously depressed if I was unplugged for longer than a few days. Sometimes when I am doing something else, my thoughts go back to checking email or remembering something I meant to google etc.
So I wondered, how much internet time is too much internet time? Low and behold, I found this (20) question quiz on NetAddiction.com, when I was suppose to be focusing on writing a book review. Does that ever happen to you? Side-tracked because of the internet?
I was pretty surprised that I scored a 49.....which is borderline between an average internet user and someone running into occasional problems because of the internet.
If you are curious, take the test, and be sure to leave a comment along with your score. I'd hate to feel that I am the only one who is obsessed with all the web has to offer. HAVE FUN!

I don't have to take the test as I already know I'm addicted to the internet, lol.
ReplyDeleteOnly a 43 for me. I surprise myself...or maybe I just lie because I'm so deep in denial? ;-)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the photo!!
ReplyDeleteI took the test and scored a 47 --- just about the same as you :)
I'm with you...I scored a 52...oh, boy. I need to slow it down!
ReplyDeleteI scored a 38. A year ago, it likely would have been in the late 40s or the early 50's. The last six months I have been decreasing the amount of time I spend online and actually spending more time offline, but when I am feeling low, I spend a lot more time online.
ReplyDeleteI thought I was really bad. My family think I am bad BUT I got just 33 and I was very very truthful!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the photograph!!!
No need to take the test for me - I know I spend waaaay too much time on the Interwebs. Part and parcel of being a blogger, I'm sure. Neat pix.
ReplyDeleteI scored a 41. I was a bit surprised as I thought I'd score higher. LOL
ReplyDeletePerfect picture, Diane! Too funny! I tried to access the site and keep getting an error message. My guess is that I have a mild addiction to the internet.
ReplyDeleteI scored a 48! Considering that I'm still up at 2:15 am commenting on blogs, I'm not sure how valid that score is. I'm pretty sure I'm an Internet addict!
ReplyDeleteI was surprised by my score too, I had a 40...and really thought it would be higher. I'll try harder!
ReplyDeleteMy score was 37... cutting back has worked!
ReplyDeleteYes, yes and yes. Away to do that test now though I think I know what the outcome will be.
ReplyDeleteI got a 36, which is an average on-line user.
ReplyDeleteWithout taking the quiz, I already know I have addiction problems with the internet. If I don't force myself to close the computer and focus on something else, I can get caught up in it all day.
ReplyDeleteI got a 47 which surprised me because I feel I spend waaaaaay too much time on line. It always starts out with one little thing and then on to something else and then I see something that needs googling - on & on
ReplyDeleteOk I think I should be locked up and my computer should be taken away from me....
ReplyDeleteMy score was 61.....OMG!!!
Here is the description that came with it:
"50 -79 points: You are experiencing occasional or frequent problems because of the Internet. You should consider their full impact on your life."
Is an intervention in order? lol
I scored a 32-average but the fact that I'm taking the quiz and blogging around when I should be preparing for my day at school is not a great sign! Thanks for sharing-I plan to share the quiz with my teenager and husband!
ReplyDeleteI'm almost afraid to take that test :) lol. Wanted to thank you again for the recommend on the Louise Penny book. I enjoyed it so much I went back to the beginning of the series and am reading my second.
ReplyDeleteI got a 49 too. It's nice to know I'm in good company. :)
ReplyDeleteI admit I was a bit scared to take the quizz :)
ReplyDeleteI got a 41 so not too bad!
I scored as an average user. I am definitely one who says "just a few more minutes" quite often, however!
ReplyDeleteWoo-hoo! only 28 for me. I love the photo!
ReplyDeleteThat's like asking me if I like to read!
ReplyDelete42...just average.
ReplyDeleteI think in the past I would have scored much higher.
Ooh, I was a bit worried about this one, but I only scored a 41, which isn't too bad.
ReplyDeleteI know I spend too much time online. It's not the internet in general for me, but blogs specifically. I'm involved in two sort of blog communities (books and chronic illness), and keeping up with all my online blog friends definitely takes too much time...but I do enjoy the interaction. I haven't come up with a good solution yet. Let me know if you come up with anything!
Sue
Haha! I got a 68! I'm surprised it is too less, since I'm online 24 hours a day minus the few hours I sleep. I think I need to redo it, LOL!
ReplyDeleteI scored a 14. I guess this is telling... I don't spend much time online other than to click on book blogs and a few other sites. Some days I'm online for less than 15 minutes and the iphone changed everything!
ReplyDeleteNow don't you wonder why I can't read more than I do? I'm spending too much time organizing my house (HA).
Fun quiz though - interesting to read the responses.
I don't think I want to find out!
ReplyDeleteI got a 40.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel about an addictive personality... I definitely have one too. I feel quite OCD sometimes.
I think I already know the answer to this quiz, but thanks for sharing the link (I may take it if I get brave).
ReplyDeleteScored a 40. It helps that I don't do it at all at work. And most of the time, I have to bring work at home!
ReplyDeleteYou always have the greatest pictures!!
I got a score of 46, so I'm pretty average, albeit on the high side (though TBH, I answered some of those questions as I used to be, rather than now, choosing the worst case scenario) - but that's because I really have cut down on my online time in recent years - four years ago my score would have been sooo much higher, I really was addicted, I used to climb the walls when I was away on holiday for two weeks and couldn't get my fix, but now, I can easily go several weeks without going anywhere near a computer. (My name is Tracy and I was addicted to the internet!)
ReplyDeleteReal life is so much more fun!
I think all your readers brought the site down because I cannot access the link now. Says the page is broken. Is it bad that I got a bit twitchy when that happened?
ReplyDeleteScored a 24 which is average...
ReplyDeleteI just tried the link and the survey IS WORKING NOW, in case someone had a problem previously.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to thank you all for your comments, and it was nice to see that I am not the only one with a (mild) problem here. Some of you are so darn disciplined though....BRAVO to you!
I scored a 44..I'm normal. Well, at least with that one quiz!!
ReplyDeleteI scored rather low, so I am not addicted to the internet. I can go all day without even thinking about going online.
ReplyDeletePhew I am not as bad as I thought I was.
ReplyDeleteI got a 35 but only because I could say it doesn't interfere with work or school. Since I'm retired and elderly, I don't have to worry about that. I think I spend too much time, but it also keeps my mind sharp.
ReplyDeleteI got a 35 but part of the reason is because my daughter eats up so much of the available time on my computer! Also if I feel like I spent too much time "playing" at work, then I just stay late to make it up so my work is not effected.
ReplyDeleteI only scored a 29 which surprised me...
ReplyDeleteSadly, I DO often get sidetracked on the Internet when I'm doing "blog work", which means that I spend FAR too much time on the computer! Surprisingly, my score was 28, probably because even though I spend a lot of time online, I will gladly neglect it when it comes time for the family or for friends! :)
ReplyDeleteI scored a 27, which surprised me. I mostly use the internet to distract me from what I don't want to do. Lately I've noticed it makes my weeknights appear to be even shorter, so I'm trying to limit my time online.
ReplyDeleteI totally have an addictive personality, so I'm skipping the quiz. I know what it will say!!
