Well, my (17) days off are over, it's back to work tomorrow...the time passed in a blur. The holidays were really special, we went to the movies to see: Unbroken, Wild and Big Eyes -- all movies were very good, but honestly, Big Eyes was my favorite -- all (3) were based on true stories. We also visited the museums, went out to eat a lot, tried a few new recipes at home and I even managed to get some exercise as well. The sad thing was that I only read (1) book in the last week with all that time off. My first book of 2015 is Lost and Found; Brooke Davis - started out strong, but not perfect.
Today we have a 50th anniversary party to attend so I won't have to cook, and then well it's Monday. I am looking forward to starting some yoga classes beginning on Thursday.

Have a Great Week
It sounds like you had a lovely vacation, Diane. I go back to work Monday too. Seven weeks off. I'm sure I can't remember my passwords. LOL It'll be strange being back. I have a new boss, but everything else I imagine will be the same.
ReplyDeleteYour new books all look good. I'm curious about Boston Girl.
Have a great week! (I'll "see" you Tuesday!)
My coworker couldn't remember her password today...LOL Have a great first week back after your extended leave.
DeleteSounds like you had a good vacation. I really want to see Wild. :)
ReplyDeleteResse Witherspoon was a great choice for WILD.
DeleteWhat a great vacation you had Diane. Thanks for another great list of books.
ReplyDeleteThanks, and have a great week Denise.
DeleteYou had a busy holiday, Diane, but it sounds like a lot of fun. I'm beginning a new yoga class next week. It's been a while and I feel like I'm starting over. My creaky body sure feels like yoga will be just the thing again. Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteKay, so disappointed my class has just been canceled -- need to find another one. enjoy yours.
DeleteI like your posted note Diane LOL. Enjoy your yoga class. I have to get motivated to resume so sort of exercise routine. Looks like you have a lot of good books to start the year off with. Enjoy your party today! I enjoyed Unbroken and will post about it next week.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'll be walking for now as the yoga class was canceled -- just got the call.
DeleteThere's a lot to be said for Mondays but not by us MOL! I tried yoga once, I rolled of the ottoman and hurt my butt.
ReplyDeleteLOL
DeleteLooks like there are plenty of good books to read this year. Here's to a smooth transition into the new year work world
ReplyDeleteThanks so much -- wish I had your extended break:)
DeleteLots of great new books for the new year! Hope tomorrow's return to work isn't too traumatic ;-)
ReplyDeletenah...it was a good day:)
DeleteYou have quite a good haul of books. I'm retired but I have scheduled Monday as my back to work day too. The house is still in post holiday chaos. Tomorrow it ends and organization will return. (as much as I can organize.)
ReplyDeleteHave a good week.
LOL -- that's a good one, back to work for house cleaning when retired...
DeleteI loved Big Eyes, too. I was so caught up in the story and the emotion of it all...and loved Amy Adams's portrayal.
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of An Uncomplicated Life...and Moving Day is one I've been seeing on the Vine pages and wondering about....
Thanks for sharing. Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
Wasn't AMy Adams awesome and her husband was quite the idiot, but a good actor.
DeleteI have to go back to work tomorrow after quite a bit of time off too and it's hard! Oh well... I hope you'll enjoy the start of your yoga class!
ReplyDeleteMy yoga class was canceled - not enough sign ups sadly.
DeleteAh yes, back to reality. I should brush off the Yoga DVDs and do some exercise too now that I'm not out gardening or doing much walking.
ReplyDeleteI see some interesting new titles in your book arrivals. The only one I have is Fiercombe Manor.
Just got a call, my yoga class is canceled for lack of interest...bummer.
DeleteAwwww, too bad. I took a morning class in the winter a few years ago and it was painful to drag myself out of the house in the cold. Now I do the at-home DVDs. My favorite one is Yoga Weight-Loss Workout for Dummies. It's fairly easy but still effective.
DeleteSounds like you had a nice break. I've been meaning to get to the movies to see some of the good stuff that came out on the holiday, but haven't gotten there yet.
ReplyDeleteI've got Lost & Found on my TBR, too, so I'll be interested to see your take on it.
Have an excellent week!
Overall I liked Lost and Found quite a bit -- still need to write a review.
DeleteNice break! I know it is going to be a difficult transition for so many of us tomorrow. I have a new department head that should make things interesting depending on what he wants to change and how quickly.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you and have a great week!
Michelle, hope your new boss works out well.
DeleteI go back tomorrow too and I am not looking forward to it. Bummer! Wish I had four-day work week - maybe that would be more manageable. I hope you have a great week back! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I like your new header!
Today was a good work day -- lots of chit-chat about our long break and the holidays. Enjoy your week.
DeleteI'm waiting on my own copy of "The Precious One" by Marisa de los Santos to arrive. I can't wait!!
ReplyDeleteI've had good luck with this author previously so hoping this is a good one.
DeleteI went back on Friday and then had the weekend off, so I kind of eased back into work already. Hope all goes well with the new boss, and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHope your new boss turns out to be great.
DeleteI'm glad you enjoyed your vacation! I read The Boston Girl a little while ago and thought it was kind of meh. it was fine, but nothing spectacular.
ReplyDeleteSarah, I don't think you were alone with that assessment based on reviews I've read.
DeleteI didn't get to see The Battle of Five Armies yet as we were all sick over the holidays. That's for next weekend, I hope. Otherwise, I am still off work and getting better - I am able to read again, thankfully. You have a good pile of books there, Diane, to start the new year with!
ReplyDeleteSusan, so glad u and the gang are feeling better. Now enjoy your week.
DeleteA really relaxed vacation will help you to unwind and be prepared for the hectic year ahead. Have a good week and enjoy all your reads.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mystica. The hardest part with returning to work today was getting out of the house -- work itself was good LOL
DeleteThe holidays pass by so quickly! Diane, it sounds like you had a truly wonderful time. I will keep Big Eyes in mind. I don't know much about it at this point.
ReplyDeleteBig Eyes is based on a true story of a 1950s artist whose husband took credit for all of her work, until she finally stood up for herself and sued him. We both loved it.
DeleteThanks Vicki -- I look forward to my one hour lunch reading.
ReplyDeleteMy husband went back to work yesterday after 16 days off and I thought he was going to cry. I'm not loving being back on regular schedule but at the same time it is nice to be back to routine. Great books and looks like you've been seeing some interesting movies. I've been thinking about seeing Wild but I think I'm going to listen to the audio first. Have a great week!
ReplyDelete17 days off would be awesome. I could use them right around now.. The time I got off over the holidays was SO busy it wasn't very relaxing...
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a busy vacation but nice too. It seems like the holiday season just zipped by this year. I hope going back to work wasn't too bad.
ReplyDeleteI had the opposite vacation. It was cold and gray and I read 24/7!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see that you liked Big Eyes since I haven't heard great things and it looked good.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a good vacation. I returned to work yesterday and it was grueling. Not so much work, but I returned with some weird thing going on with my face which involved swelling, etc. Hitting one doc later today and then possibly another right after depending on what the first one says. I am really a mess.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I have been reading. I've finished three books so far. Just need to write the reviews up.
