The End of Her; Shari Lapena
Penguin Audio - 2020
Penguin Audio - 2020
Patrick and Stephanie are sleep deprived parents of twins. It's her first marriage and Patrick's second. Patrick's first wife died while expecting their first child; her death ruled an accident, but, was it? Why didn't Stephanie know all the details about this until Erica, another woman from Patrick's past shows up and is trying to blackmail him? Who is telling the truth?
I've read everything that this author has written but, this was not a favorite. I thought the story was slow to start and I didn't care for the writing, it felt rushed. In addition, there was too much, "he said - she said" which is always very annoying especially on audio. The characters, except for Stephanie were unlikeable and the storyline quite implausible. To top it off, the ending made me say "WHAT?" I was so sorry that I purchased this book through Audible. So disappointing.
A generous 1.5/5 stars rating.
Oh no! Hopefully the next one will be better.
ReplyDeleteSorry a favorite author didn't come through this time. That's always disappointing.
ReplyDeleteToo bad. A shame that an author you like was that disappointing.
ReplyDeleteIt's really sad when a great big disappointment happens by.
ReplyDelete1.5 stars makes me think you should return it to Audible for credit. They're pretty good about that. I also just listened to a book that I gave a very low rating (1/5). I'm not sure why I wasted my time, but it seems easier to keep listening when it's an audio rather than continue when reading a print copy.
ReplyDeleteI did exchange it after I heard the ending! UGH
DeleteRita, I liked her other ones - some more than others.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad that an author you obviously have liked has disappointed you with this one. Oh, well, better luck with the next one.
ReplyDeleteOh dear. 1.5?! Not a resounding recommendation and, obviously, I'll skip this one.
ReplyDeleteIt is so terrible when an author you love lets you down.
ReplyDeleteI read another book by this author that wasn't very good. I am sorry you purchased this dud through Audible though. Books this bad really shouldn't be published.
