August was a pretty good month for books - (11) books read and (4) were perfect 5 star reads for me. Another (4) earned a 4 or 4.5 star rating, (2) - 3 to 3.5 stars and just (1) that I thought was really terrible.
Here's my faves which I hope you will try if you haven't already read them.
- Anxious People; Fredrik Backman 5/5 - (eGalley/August)
- The Operator; Gretchen Berg - 3.5/5 - (audio/August)
- The Party Upstairs; Lee Conell - 3/5 (eGalley/August)
- The Caretakers; Eliza Maxwell - 4/5 - (print/library/August)
- The Giver of Stars; Jo Jo Moyes - 5/5 - (audio/library/August)
- Night Swim; Megan Goldin - 4/5 (eGalley/August)

ReplyDeleteLOL yes, true Brian.
DeleteI've read several of the books on your lists and I have Anxious People, One By One, and They Lying Life of Adults on my TBR list. Looking forward to all three.
ReplyDeleteWe do have similar taste in books Dorothy :)
DeleteLooks like you have some good books coming up in September. I am intrigued by Backman's book as I liked the one of his that I've read.
ReplyDeleteI really loved Anxious People - different.
DeleteI've not finished my August reads as yet and trying very hard to do them all! Your September list has one of my favourite Agatha Christie books.
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear about the AC title. Hope to start it soon.
DeleteHow are you enjoying One by One, I really liked it, especially the snowy setting.
ReplyDeleteI'm still reading it as I had 3 diff books going. I like it but, thought it would be a page turner and it isn't for me.
DeleteI read Anxious People also and enjoyed it. Happy September!
ReplyDeleteSame to you Freda.
DeleteI'm a little jealous that you already have a copy of the new novel by Ferrante. Unsheltered was a favorite of mine.
ReplyDeleteJudy - The Lying Life of Adults is an audio read by Marissa Tomei. It's good but, it's quite different too.
DeleteYou had a productive month of reading! Like you, I had one that was a really stinker (1/5 stars). I'm anxious to read the Backman and Moyes novels and am glad to see you enjoyed them so well.
ReplyDeleteYou will like both Moyes and Backman's newest --I hope.
DeleteYour reading plans for Sept. look good. I'm curious about the Ferrante novel.
ReplyDeleteIt's different, about 1/2 way through now.
DeleteOh no! The End of Her wasn't good? I've read The Couple Next Door, which was fun, but I didn't care for A Stranger in the House.
ReplyDeleteI downloaded His & Hers from the library, but didn't get a chance to read it before it expired. I'll try again later, because I've heard good things.
Happy September!
No, I though The End of Her was terrible. I returned it for a refund to audible. Had it been a HC, I would have flung it across the room when I read the ending.
