I thought about joining this challenge again this year, but decided to keep reading from my "Want to Read Before the End of 2022!" stack. I've been on a roll with literary fiction this summer and don't really feel compelled to read any mysteries. Maybe next year. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteHey, whatever works. I created a 2022-2033 Bucket List last month and read just (1) in August but, I picked to (2) from that list for RIP so hoping that works.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely begin with that Shirley Jackson title...just in case you fizzle out on this one early. LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestion. It's a variety of author stories and several are authors that I've enjoyed in the past.
DeleteAnything by Wilkie Collins is usually good. I thought about doing this but am not sure I want to take on another official challenge after the 20 Books of Summer and the others I have that are still ongoing. That said, I'll be reading spooky and crime books as autumn gets underway regardless so will be joining you in spirit! :-)
ReplyDeleteI can understand not wanting to add another challenge. This has been a ritual with me for about 14 years and fall means darker reads for me anyway. I do plan to read a few books that are on my bucket list for this challenge as well so that should help with both. Enjoy your fall picks Cath.
ReplyDeleteThis is always a fun challenge! But then I love reading Gothic mysteries, thrillers, supernatural reads and a little horror. Your list of books look good. I want to check out Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six; and I liked reading The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Happy R.I.P.ping! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Lark, I hope to start Secluded Cabin Sleeps 6 soon. Like you, I enjoy a varied mix when it comes to darker reads.
DeleteSo excited to join in on this one again. I'm starting off with a cozy read but can't wait for some darker tales. I love the mix of classic and modern thrillers you've got here. Hope you have tons of fun with your reading, Diane!
ReplyDeleteThanks Iliana, I always look forward to this one. I hope you like all your choices. I will be looking forward to your reviews.
ReplyDeleteI am not a big spooky reader, but I am in again!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm not a horror or supernatural fan but, love Gothic, mystery and thrillers so I'm good:0 I'll check your post.
ReplyDeleteI always love this challenge, especially to see what others are reading. Not 100% sure I will do it this year, as I have a lot on my plate at the moment. I'm always eager to read about Wilkie's books!
ReplyDeleteYes, sometimes the timing is just not right no matter how much we love a good challenge. Next year!
DeleteI haven't read any of these but I have the Lisa Jewell on my TBR and I'm adding the Wilkie Collins and Shirley Jackson books as well. Good luck and I can't wait to see your thoughts on these.
ReplyDeleteYes, I love those authors especially in fall.
DeleteI'm not much of a mystery/spooky reader, but do have a few titles I'd like to read this fall. Will be happy if I get to one or two. Wilkie Collins is perfect for this challenge! I haven't read The Haunted Hotel, but loved The Moonstone and The Woman in White. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI do like Gothic as well from time to time, especially for fall reading.
DeleteDiane, you borrowed from Diana and I'm going to borrow from you. RIP Challenge is one I try to do each year. It's a perfect match for me. I'm a little late, but better late than....right? LOL
ReplyDeleteBe my guest Kay, the RIP post is quite generic, no sense for any of us to reinvent the wheel:) Have fun, I love this challenge.
DeleteYeah I like reading a Shirley Jackson book in October .... perfect for spooky.
ReplyDeleteYour list sounds great, Diane! Hope you've fun and I look forward to your reviews. :)
