First Chapter ~ First Paragraph Tuesday Intros - A Tap on the WIndow; Linwood Barclay

Every Tuesday I host First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros, where I share the first paragraph or (a few) of a book I am reading or thinking about reading soon. Care to join us?
 
This week I'm featuring an intro from a book by an author I've enjoyed in the past -- It will be perfect for the R.I.P. VIII Challenge as well.

Penguin - August 2013

"A middle-aged guy would have to be a total fool to pick up a teenage girl standing outside of a bar with her thumb sticking out.  Not that bright on her part, either, when you think about it. But right now we are talking about my stupidity not hers.

 She was standing there at the curb, her stringy blond hair, rain-soaked hanging in her face, the neon glow from the COORS sign hanging in the window of Patchett's bar bathing her in an eerie light.  Her shoulders were hunched up against the drizzle, as if that would somehow keep her warm and dry."

    First - great cover! Second - Yes, I would definitely keep reading. That's definitely an excellent hook to keep the reader interested enough to continue.

    I do like the cover...and the opening drew me in. I would continue reading.

    The cover looks scary, but based on the opening paragraph I'd keep reading, at least until it got to the scary part.
