Do you plan to read some Christmas fiction this year?
I always like to read a few Christmas books to get me in the holiday spirit. I hesitated to do this post so early, but since all of the stores already have some holiday displays up, I figured -- hey, why not. All bold are some of the ones I am considering. All of these release between Sept and November. The ones in bold are the ones I'm considering right now.
- A New York Christmas; Anne Perry (Ballantine - November)
- The Christmas Light; Donna VanLiere (St. Martin's Press - October)
- An Island Christmas; Nancy Thayer (Ballantine - October)
- Tis the Season; Robyn Carr (Harlequin/Mira - October)
- Christmas at Rose Hill Farm; Suzanne Woods Fisher (Revell - September)
- Change of Heart; Jude Deveraux (Pocket Books - October)
- Forever Christmas; Robert Miller (Thomas Nelson - October)
- Christmas at Historic Homes; Patricia and Katherine McMillian (Schiffer - September)
- The Christmas Cat; Melody Carlson (Revell - September)
- Mr. Miracle; Debbie Macomber (Ballantine - October)
- Nora Bonesteel's Christmas Past; Sharon McCrumb (Abbington Press - October)
- Christmas Bouquet; Sheryl Woods (Harlequin/Mira - October)
- A Quilt for Christmas; Sandra Dallas (St. Martin's Press-October)
- Death of a Christmas Caterer; Lee Hollis (Kensington - October)
- Shadows on a Maine Christmas; Lea Wait (Preservation Press-September)
This is a fabulous selection. I doubt I will find any but it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling reading Christmas themed stories!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you'll have access to some better ones even?
DeleteI love Christmas books all year and am happy to see your list. I've got Tis the Season on order and The Christmas Cat at home. Dang, just looking at a couple on your list and I discovered that I'm going to be sucked into a lot of jumping around looking at Christmas books and adding to my wish list.
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda funny and can only read them after Halloween generally...LOL
DeleteI haven't even given Christmas reading a thought, til now. Lots of ideas in your post. Thanks for doing the research. I may have to read at least one, but which one?????
ReplyDeleteJudy,
DeleteThe last one is tops on my list, by Lea Wait -- she writes a series of art mysteries which I've enjoyed.
Dang, we had better get our Christmas Tree put up!
ReplyDeletePlenty of time Brian LOL
DeleteThanks for sharing this list, Diane! The holidays will be here before too long. It's fun to get into the spirit by reading Christmas (or holiday) stories. :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the truth? I'm not ready to start reading Christmas books yet, but in another month...I'll be anxious.
DeleteNice list! I don't have any of these but I will be looking for several Christmas time stories for my Holiday Challenge @ Caffeinated Reviewer and just for my own pleasure in Nov/Dec.
ReplyDeleteInteresting you have Lea Wait's book. I used to work at a school in a small town in Maine and Ms. Wait was a regular visitor to talk to the older grades about how to write creatively. Haven't thought of her in years. I remember she said she wrote cozies but never read them.
Enjoy the ones that you are able to get!
I love Lea Wait's art mysteries. In fact he holiday book is one I just dowlnoaded on my Kindle from Amazon for $4.99.
DeleteI'm one of those people who doesn't even think about Christmas until after Halloween... and sometimes not until I've had my Thanksgiving turkey. I do, however, enjoy everyone else's early decorations and baking. :)
ReplyDeleteAs for reading... I'll usually pick up one or two Christmas-y themed books or a cook book. Cookies. I need all the baking help I can get!
I've started a stack of holiday books and I hope to get to them soon.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of Christmas themed books from bargain tables or gifts I hope to read in December. Most are light!
ReplyDeletethanks, I'm always on the lookout for some good Christmas reading.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great list! I'm going to do the Holiday Read-a-thon challenge in November and will look for some of these! :) -beth Beth's Book-Nook Blog
