Friday we saw the first day release of The Martian in 3-D; it was incredible - I highly recommend it.
Today I took a shorter walk, and I've been catching up on reviews (not posted yet) but, this week I finished reading - The Gates of Evangeline, Hester Young; The Beautiful Bureaucrat; Helen Phillips; and Becoming Ellen; Shari Shattuck - feeling kinda happy about this. Review ratings range from 3.5 stars to 4.5 stars so it was all good reading or listening more or less.
Several new books made in mysteriously into my house over the last (2) weeks - just how does this happen? PLUS, I am hooked on audio downloads from the library now as well - no more books on cd for me thank you! Audio downloads to my phone are so easy and I can listen on the phone or through bluetooth in the car as well - love.
- Beastly Bones; William Ritter (Algonquin)
- Jackaby; William Ritter (Algonquin)
- A Winter's Night; Valerio Massimo Manfredi (Europa purchase)
- Silent Nights; Martin Edwards (Poison Pen Press)
- The Improbability of Love; Hannah Rothschild (Knopf)
- After You; JoJo Moyes (Pamela Dorman Books)
- A Strangeness in My Mind; Orhan Pamuk (Knopf)
- The Drowning Lesson; Jane Shemilt (Penguin)
- Hunters in the Dark; Lawrence Osborne (Hogarth)
Up Next - After You; JoJo Moyes; In the Unlikely Event; Judy Blume (started this one but had to return it to library but it's back again as an audio download) and Purity; Jonathan Franzen
Have a Great Week Everyone!
You got some goodies to read and listen to! Hey, we've been wondering about The Martian.
ReplyDeleteYou had some great reads last week! I enjoyed Gates of Evangeline and loved Beautiful Bureaucrat! And - I need to see The Martian movie - loved the book!
ReplyDeleteI haven't listened to a book on CD in almost 2 years... love having audio downloads on my phone!! Looking forward to all your reviews, especially The Gates of Evangeline. I know that one is narrated by January Lavoy and have somehow come to associate it with Dollbaby, which I loved.
ReplyDeleteWe've had the same weather- rain and wind the last few days. Hope we clear up a bit. Definitely fall. Glad to hear the movie was good- I've been hearing raves about it.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how books just magically appear at the house? :)
You already saw The Martian? Lucky you! I just finished reading it and can't wait to see the movie :)
ReplyDeleteI did have to turn on the heat here this weekend - it got into the 50's!
I love digital audio books! I listen to so many more now because I put them on my iPod and can listen while I walk, cook, do laundry, etc.
Enjoy your books this week!
Sue
Book By Book
I couldn't talk anyone into going to The Martian this weekend and I was bummed!! I really enjoyed the book, I may have to see this one by my lonesome!!
ReplyDeleteDigital audiobooks are the best!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous - bluetooth in the car! I've moved to mostly audio downloads now that I have the audiobook app on my phone and a set of bluetooth headphones. It's audio freedom!
ReplyDeleteThe Martian is on my must-see list of movies and I rarely go to the show.
I've been seeing Jackaby everywhere - it sounds very good, so I hope my library has it.
ReplyDeleteIt's been cold here during mornings and evenings but beautiful 70 degree weather during daytime. After a week of rains, this is so welcome.
