R.I.P. 13 Challenge begins September 1st

I've participated in the Readers Imbibing Peril Challenge every fall for the last 10 years. It's fun putting together a fall list of thrillers or mysteries just for this challenge. It was started by Carl V. Anderson @ Stainless Steel Droppings and he hosted it for many years. Then Estella’s Revenge took over as hosts. This year, Kristen @ We Be Reading, is hosting it, and it’s a very special year for this challenge: Number 13!

The purpose of the event is to read books that fall into any of the RIP categories:
Mystery, Suspense, Thriller, Dark Fantasy, Gothic, Horror, Supernatural.
And the main goals are to HAVE FUN, and to share that fun with others. Pretty simple.
I am choosing PERIL THE FIRST -  read four books of any length during the challenge time period. Here is a possible list of the 4-5 books that I am considering for this challenge which begins September 1 and continues through October 31st.

  1. I haven't participated in this challenge for many years and probably won't this year since we'll be traveling and my reading time really drops when we're on the road. Looks like you've got some great books to read! Have fun!

  5. This is one of those challenges that I have seen around for years, but thought it was only horror books. I didn't realize that mysteries and thrillers counted. It's the perfect year for it given it's number 13 and this genre is so hot right now.

  7. All five books have intriguing covers. I guess it suits them. Have fun with the challenge! I will be reading a spooky one, The Silent Companions, in October; not for this challenge, but to keep in the mood with the long nights and the change in the weather. ;-)

  10. I haven't taken part in this challenge myself ever, however it has always intrigued me. Darker reads are perfect for this time of year! I have The Perfect Mother on my Kindle, ready & waiting. I hope you enjoy that title, and all the others.
