Sunday Blatherings

It's been so nice have an extra long weekend, despite the 4th of July being a day of wind and rain. Saturday and today are picture perfect and I still have tomorrow off as well.  What has everyone been up to?

We've soaked up a little sun, not as much as in my younger days. Spent some time yesterday visiting the new baby who came home on Friday and kept her parents up all night.  We gave them one of those Fisher Price swings with 16 different sounds and different movements, which she seems to enjoy it. Hopefully the 1st time parents will get a little sleep soon.  We also got to visit our other 2 granddaughters, so all in all a perfect weekend.  Today out to lunch and a few "open houses". (We like to entertain ourselves by touring homes we can't afford from time to time and then drooling afterward.)

I haven't done much reading this weekend and I still have (3) reviews to catch up on ---
  1. The Transcriptionist;  Amy Rowland - (eBook) - 4/5 - July
  2. The Highway; C.J. Box (audio) - 3.5/5 - July
  3. Mr. Tiger Goes Wild ; Peter Brown - (library) - 4.5/5 -July
I did get a few more books in the mail = anxious to try them all.

 Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

  1. Open houses are fun. I used to do that - tour homes waaay out of my price range. =) I'm glad your new grandbaby likes her swing. My kids only wanted to be held while I was standing! They were stinkers.

    1. Diana and Athira,

We have so much fun at open houses, and later go out and critique their decorating skills (or lack of). LOL Often I drool over how cool the house it as well:)

  5. Congrats on the new grandkiddo! =D

We were lucky to miss the rain (if not the wind) for our 4th, so this whole long weekend has been picture perfect weather wise. Great for picnics and porch-sitting.

Looks like you've got a few good books there to read. I've got The Farm on my TBR, and I'm looking forward to getting to it. Happy reading!

  16. My oldest daughter would only sleep in her swing! I finally gave in and would put her in it at night, and then I'd sleep in a chair next to the swing :p

Yes, I had a crank up baby swing for my kids, but these new ones are just so awesome. Power cords and 16 different tunes or nature sounds....

    1. Caren, you made me laugh. We like to get ideas, but also to poke fun at tacky decorating in the houses we tour. Now we say, we are looking for our child who lives out of state LOL

  20. You got some good books in the mail!
I always have visions of sun and surf when the 4th rolls around but in all honesty, I take this one medication that causes me all sorts of problems if I get any sun so I have to stay out of the sun and just enjoy it all from a shady spot.

  21. I can never talk my husband into touring open houses with me. I'm too chicken to go by myself. :-) I have to settle for House Hunters, even if I know the show is staged.

I am glad you got to spend time with your beautiful grand-daughters, Diane. Congratulations again on the newest addition to the family. Oh, how I remember those sleepless nights . . .

We had a nice 4th of July. At least we did once I got home from work. We went to a friend's house for a BBQ and to see the fireworks. They have a wonderful view of the city fireworks right from their backyard. We could even see the flames when the hill caught on fire (happens every year).

I am taking a little blogging break this week but hope to be back in full swing next week.

I hope you have a wonderful week!

  22. My parents used to tour open houses after they had to downsize to an apartment. I never did it, but I do like to look at magazines with homes and architecture in them.
All your books look really good, the type I would see myself reading, so off to check them out further. Enjoy the rest of your long weekend. And congrats again on the new baby!

  23. Yaaay, I see Mr. Mercedes showed up! The Farm sounds good. I hadn't heard of that one.

I had to laugh at the open houses. In one of my previous careers I was a real estate agent. I swear 90% of the people that toured my open houses were looking for decorating ideas. :)

  27. Parents don't need sleep! That's what I keep telling myself as Gage's various illnessness entered day 11 today!
I love to go to open houses. Jason and I used to do it a lot but now he tells me he's afraid. A random open house is sort of how we ended up with our current house 10 years ago :)
