First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros - In the Unlikely Event; Judy Blume

Every Tuesday I host First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros where I share the first paragraph sometimes two from a book I am reading or thinking about reading soon.

Knopf - 2015

Thirty-five Years Later

"Even now she can't decide.  She thinks about flipping a coin. Heads she goes, tails she stays.  But isn't indecisiveness an early sign of mental illness?  Didn't she cover a story about a few years ago? Or is it that she's conflicted? Conflicted is better than indecisive.  Why is she thinking this way? A voice inside her head says, You know damn well why."

What do you think -- keep reading or pass?

  2. I love Judy Blume. :-) I hope you are enjoying this one, Diane. I wonder what she will end up deciding and why she is having trouble making up her mind . . . I often can't decide what I want to eat for dinner. I hate to think that's a sign I am mentally ill.

  16. I'm listening to this on audio now. I'm really enjoying it, but there are a slew of characters introduced in the beginning. Don't be discouraged by that, you'll get them all straight as you progress.

    1. Thanks for the warning, as I do get frustrated when there are too many characters.

  17. I would bite, I would want to know why too!

  18. I'm about a quarter through this book - loving it! Blume knows how to write a page-turner. I put off beginning it because early reviews suggested that it was hard to keep track of all of the characters but I haven't found that to be a problem.
