My Week in Review

But First a Question - Do you have vivid dreams or reoccurring dreams?
I have reoccurring and bizarre dreams all the time. About a house we had lived in for 20 years (I'm sometimes snooping around or people who don't belong there are inside). Then for 7 years I had reoccurring dreams about an old boss and when he passed away in 2013, the dreams stopped. Then there's the one where I can't find my car in a parking lot or garage. I know many people don't recall their dreams but I always do.
Last night I dreamt I was texting someone who died last year that I hadn't spoken to in over 9 years. In the dream I said to my husband, "She's not responding to my text", he said, "that's because she's dead!" and, I said, but she's not dead in my dream."! How crazy is that!

I also yell in my sleep from time to time and my husband has to wake me and ask if I am okay. ( I guess I  have lots of unresolved issues LOL)
    Outside
I woke up to 18 degree temps outside but sunny and it should warm up a bit. Colder temps are moving in mid-week..
    Thankful
I'm thankful that my recent dreams are just dreams.
Reading - The Overstory; Richard Powers  ended up being a DNF for me. Yes, beautiful writing, but, it was a struggle for me and I just was never that excited about getting back to it. Listening to: Tapestry of Fortunes; Elizabeth Berg and reading Good Riddance; Elinor Lipman (both are good)
Finished -  I  finished (but need to review) Waiting for Bojangles; Oliver Bourdeaut (loved it); The Whistler; John Grisham (audio - not bad)
Watched- The Good Doctor, The Residents, New Amsterdam and This is Us We also watched Murder on the Cape (true story - loved the book but, the movie was awful). We also watched The King's Speech (repeat) and The Company Men (saw at movies previously) both very good.
In The Kitchen - Can I just say, I hate cooking! Beef Stew in the crockpot was my only creation last week LOL - Restaurants love us.
New To Me Stuff - Who knew this existed? I love it!  Great for fried eggs as well.

Last Week - Yoga twice, but yet another UTI (just 2 weeks after the last) kept me indoors more than I would have preferred. Did you know blueberries are good for UTI's at least that is what the doctor said. I did go to my book group. We discussed The Women in the Castle, Jessica Shattuck - everyone liked it and a great discussion about the hateful things that happened under Hitler and the similarities of hate we see happening now.
This Coming Week: Yoga, a movie (Green Book - hopefully) and lunch with kids on Tuesday (unless we get snowstorm) so far.
Hope you all had a good week!

  1. Wow, those dreams are amazing, amazing!!! Especially about the dead people. I love his line about not answering because the person is dead.
Raya, the 18 year old cat had her first UTI. The vet put her on an antiobiotic for a week, and when she came off she got it again. But this time it was late at night and she was miserable. Tom took her to the emergency vet, and I was sure she was going to be put down, but no. The vet just gave her a stronger medicine, and so far she is doing great. Just finished the course, but we got some more just in case she isn't quite cured. Again, I'm thinking she just might be immortal. I won't tell anyone, though so the news doesn't get ahold of it. hahaha.

    1. Nan, Raya is taking full advantage of her 9 Lives LOL - lucky all of you! Glad the meds are helping.

  2. My dreams are insanely vivid and feel very real. Since I was little I use to dream about dying in a car crash. One reason i did not want to get my license. Eventually i got my license when I turned 35. I still have some fears about driving and dont do much. Now my dreams about driving are that i can never seem to reach the breaks. I also have recurring dreams about the house i grew up that my brother now owns. I dream we would let our dogs out in the backyard that i make them do there business quick because there are lions, tigers, panthers and other zoo like animals that come in the backyard. I have so many others including end of the world stuff.Yeah my dreams could use more happy lately to be honest.

    1. Shannon, so nice that you shared your intense dreams. We should have them analyzed, but, then, I really don't want to know LOL

  3. I want to see the Green Book too. I see you are reading Elizabeth Berg, I just discovered her and have read 3 of her books. You have sure had some scary dreams.

    1. Terra, yes, me and scary or odd dreams seem to go hand in hand these last 15 years. Berg is a good go-to for some lighter reads.

  4. Those dreams are amazing! I think I fall into the fairly normal category when it comes to dreams. Normally I don't remember them or only snatches of it. I used to talk in my sleep but my husband says I haven't done that in a while. When I was little I used to walk in my sleep sometimes. My youngest walked in his sleep a couple of times when he was very little but thankfully hasn't done it much lately. I've been doing yoga all month and am really loving it. I've been using Yoga with Adriene on YouTube and am really enjoying it.

    1. Glad you are enjoying yoga - I love it as well. Most people I speak to about dreams say they don't dream or don't remember. My husband has reoccurring dreams as well about people from his past, sometimes disturbing. Guessing are stressful at times work days - before we retired --contribute to that.

  5. I do dream though I don't have particularly recurring ones. I have recurring persons. I remember some right after I wake from them but very few do I remember for long. Are dreams as important as some believe or just the mental monkey fooling around? I have no opinion. It is like asking why does my stomach rumble or my back ache. Ha Ha.
Sorry you had to DNF The Overstory but I understand. Powers and his type of writing is a unique flavor and I should think a reader has to be in the mood. I just started his previous novel, Orfeo, and I recognize his strange brew.

    1. Judy, I think most people don't recall dreams or only bits and pieces but mine are so vivid. Another odd one was me cleaning out an elderly aunt's apartment (which I didn't do) and when I opened her cabinet she had a package of opened cookies and mice and more mice scurried out everywhere!! WEIRDO ME

  6. UTIs are terrible; I am so sorry you are dealing with it (again). I really enjoyed Greenbook, but then read an article that said the movie-makers didn't contact the musician's family and they disagree with a number of things in it, which made me sad. But, it is definitely a good movie even if it isn't all true!

    1. Oh that's too bad it's not all factual but, like you, I still think I will enjoy it.

  7. You were sure plenty busy and I hope the UTIs go away for good. Hey, if the Dad falls asleep with the TV on he dreams about whatever is on the TV. It's funny to watch if he falls asleep during Jaws!

  8. You sound like my mom. She remembers her dreams and has a few that are recurring. I think I have vivid dreams, but after waking, they are long gone with only bits and pieces popping up on a very rare occasion.

It's been ages since I read anything by Elizabeth Berg and Tapestry of Fortunes sounds like one I might enjoy.

I haven't had a UTI since I was a teenager. I eat blueberries almost every day, so maybe that's the key!

I hope you have a good week. Stay warm!

I just finished Tapestry of fortunes, it was nice but not a favorite.

  9. I don't remember my dreams much, but occasionally. Those are usually bad ones of some sort. I wake and then can't go back to sleep. Happily, that is usually within an hour of my usual rising time and I go ahead and get up.

My Mom used to have a lot of UTI's for some reason. I have had very few and they were long ago. I, too, eat blueberries almost every day. Who knows? I've heard cranberries or cranberry juice, but I'm not really drinking juice these days. Finding that the actual fruit is more filling.

Hope you have a better week, Diane. I don't like cooking any more either. Everything I know how to cook we don't really eat and likely won't again much.

    1. Dreams are very puzzling for sure. I think a lot of seniors eat out a lot, it just makes more sense and allows for variety and ability to try new things as well.

  10. I don't often remember my dreams. Yours are so vivid and specific. Didn't know that about blueberries. I've heard cranberries are good for UTIs.

    1. Yes, the doctor said cranberries are unproven but, blueberries - something in the skin -- help.

  11. My bookclub read The Women In The Castle, too, and had a verify similar experience. I do recommend it for book clubs - there is a lot to discuss.

  12. Happy Sunday, Diane! The Women in the Castle is on my reading list. I learned something new about blueberries. I hope you have a good week ahead!

  13. I don't remember any of my dreams! But they do wake me occasionally. I love making beef stew because it's one of those dishes everyone loves.

  14. I had 2 different recurring dreams for years but they stopped some time ago. In one of them I'm laying on my back on something very hard like concrete and there's something huge and heavy like a concrete disk rotating just an inch or two from my face. When is was telling them about it my dad got a strange look on his face and said he'd had the same dream for years. That was strange. I don't yell in my sleep but I do laugh like I've just heard the funniest thing ever. I've been known to wake everyone in the house up with my laughing. I never remember what was so funny though :(

Waiting for Bojangles has been ordered at my library and I'm waiting on an email letting me know it's in.

I hope you like Waiting for Bojangles.

  15. A couple of teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in water now and then will keep you UTI free.

Those dreams. When I dream which is not often because I hardly sleep long enough to hit REM, but when I do I have the weirdest ones ever. Lisa from TLC book tours used to interpret my dreams for me on FB. She has no professional training with this but does a pretty accurate job.

  16. Wow, those dreams! I don't have recurring dreams, but do tend to remember the more vivid ones. Too bad about Overstory, but if you're struggling and not eager to read it, then it was time to let it go. I'll look forward to hearing more about Elinor Lipman's new novel!

  17. I have recurring dreams about college -- not having my class schedule, not being able to find the right classroom, showing up on the last day for a final and realizing I haven't attended class all semester, LOL. In my dream, I have to tell myself, "Chill out. You already graduated from college." Then, it all disappears. LOL. Dreams are so fascinating, aren't they?

  20. I use the crockpot once a week and freeze some too LOL

  21. I took a nap today and dreamt I ate all the brownies and bread in the house (I've been going gluten free since the beginning of the month and apparently my mind is not happy with it even if it seems that my body is).
