"She thinks, too, that she probably really does need the seasons, their lessons of birth and rebirth, the rich variety they offer, even when the offering is a freezing day full of howling winds and driving snow. For every nasty day, there are many more that can break your heart with their shy beauty; nothing so ostentatious as California's beauty, no".
(p 131 Home Safe: A Novel; Elizabeth Berg)
I'm more than 1/2 way through; it's good, but I'm feeling a little bored :(

Hopefully the book will pick up for you soon, Diane. I haven't read anything by Elizabeth Berg, but I've heard she is good.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quote. I'll have to look into this one.
ReplyDeleteYours isn't the first comment I've heard on being bored with the book. That's too bad because I've really always enjoyed Berg's writing. I'll probably read this one but not just yet.
ReplyDeleteToo bad you're feeling a bit bored by it! I've read Berg in the past and enjoyed her, although I do find her a bit bland.
