Thanks Marcia for hosting this popular post.
Hey book buddies, did you have a great week in books? I had a fabulous surprise (or 2) in my mailbox almost every day this week. It was very exciting. The first stack of books are my favorites, but SERIOUSLY, I love them all :)
- Faithful Place; Tana French - (Viking)
- Fall of Giants; Ken Follett - (Amazon Vine)
- Displaced Persons; Ghita Schwarz (Wm Morrow)
- The Elephants Journey; Jose Sarmago (RIP) - sent by a friend
(These should more than satisfy the animal lover in me, even though they are bound to be a bit sad).
- Blind Hope; Kim Meeder (purchased by me)
- Katie, Up and Down the Hall; Glenn Plaskin (Hachette)
- Free to Good Home; Eve Marie Mont (win from Kay)
- The Companion; Lorcan Roche (Eurpoa editions)
- A Slender Thread; Katharine Davis (sent by author)
- A Small Death in the Great Glen; A.D. Scott
Thanks so much to the generous authors/publishers, and bloggers.
Wow, I almost couldn't find the comment link. A SMall Death in the Great Glen looks good to me as does A Slender Thread. Enjoy all your new books, Diane. Have a wonderful week and happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge animal lover...but I've had to stop reading animal stories because of all the tears :-( Enjoy your books (and have a good old cry for me)!
ReplyDeleteThe Ken Follet books always look so daunting as they are huge! Enjoy your books.
ReplyDeleteEvery one of these books would be of interest to me! Looks like a great few weeks of reading ahead :)
ReplyDelete"Free To a Good Home" looks great- I've seen it around!
ReplyDeleteA few of those are on my tbr list. Have a great week, Diane!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you got a lot of great stuff there. I will be interested in hearing about all of them, but mostly The Slender Thread. I want to compare it to a book that I bought a long time ago and see if they are the same! Happy reading!!
ReplyDeleteI've seen some of these around...like Faithful Place.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering about Displaced Person. Sounds like it could be very good.
Have a great week.
Thanks for visiting my blog.
I've heard lots of good stuff about Tana French and I got Small Death, too. Happy reading! I didn't get a chance to do up a mailbox this week, but I do have a Reading Recap and a Giveaway if you'd like to stop by!
ReplyDeleteA Slender Thread sounds good and also the other books have given you quite a good reading week.
ReplyDeleteI got Fall of Giants too; I have no idea how long it will take to read it. In the meanwhile, I can use it as a weapon I think.
ReplyDeleteGreat books! I really want to read the Follett series. Hope you enjoy! My mailbox is at The Crowded Leaf.
ReplyDeleteA Slender Thread has an appealing cover. You always get such wonderful treats in the mail.
ReplyDeleteYou did have a great week! I can't wait to see what you think of Faithful Place. Free to a Good Home isn't sad, by the way. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteInteresting ones. I am jealous. Enjoy your books!
ReplyDeleteHere is my post!
Wow! Looks like Christmas in July at your house! Enjoy your new goodies!
ReplyDeleteA Small Death in the Great Glen for me, please. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great selection! I'm going to have to get hold of a copy of Elephant's Journey soon, but many of the others sound very appealing too. I look forward to hearing all about them.
ReplyDeleteOh you got the Tana French book. I think I'm slightly jealous :)
ReplyDeleteI just bought one book this weekend but I'm excited about it.
Thanks for visiting my blog! I read S&S when I was young and didn't really appreciate it, and now I'm trying it again and quite enjoying the characters and Austen's understated humor :)
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!

Whoops, sorry about the last comment - wrong blog! I'm sure yours is just as wonderful :) (I'm new at this blogging thing).
ReplyDeleteGoodness, that is a mess of great looking books! I'm going to put A Slender Thread on my wish list as it has caught my eye! I hope you enjoy all these new books!
ReplyDeleteThat is some haul you have there. I read Ken Follet religiously when I was younger, but haven't in many years. Hmm, may have to change that. Thx, for stopping by my blog earlier. FYI - the reason I have so many books started is that I have an audiobook in the car, one in the house, one paperback book and one on the Ipad. I always have one in reaching distance. happy reading!

ReplyDeleteOoooh, you received the Tana French book. I read book one in the series and loved it but somehow never got around to book two. Not sure why and now of course the third one is out and I am playing catch-up. Again :)
