In this cute little story about a bear and her boy, a spoof about children and pets, Lucille (Lucy) Beatrice Bear finds a cute little boy in the woods, hiding behind some bushes. Lucy brings the boy home, hoping to convince her mother to let her keep him as her pet. She wants to name him "Squeaker", because all he does is squeak.  The two do everything together: the play together, nap together and eat together, but all was not fun and games. Squeaker, destroyed the furniture, and began to cause lots of problems, around their once happy home, and then one day he disappeared all together. Lucy was frantic, and decided to follow Squeaker's scent through the forest, and suddenly she made a big discovery -- Squeaker had a family already, and he seemed happy too. Lucy learned an important lesson, proving that her mother was right -- "Children do make terrible pets".

Cute story for ages 4-8, but my favorite part about this book was a wonderful illustrations.  A fun story to read to little ones, about the hard work, having a pet can sometimes be.  RECOMMENDED

  2. My youngest received this book as a Christmas present and really thinks it's cute. We especially like it because our little squirrel that we took care of before returning him to the woods when he was old enough was named Squeakers :)

  3. My husband and I almost bought this book - for ourselves. :) Such a cute title and when we flipped through the pages, we just loved the illustrations. I guess we're definitely going to have to pick it up next time.
