February in Review

Happy Leap Month
(where did February go?)

Two months of 2012 -- gone --how did that happen?
I've been feeling a bit stressed lately, and feel like my reading has slowed.  I did get some reading done, but would have liked to accomplish more.  Here is what my month looked like:

February
  1. Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother; Amy Chua (NF-audio) - 1/5
  2. Catch Me; Lisa Gardner - 4/5 (psychological thriller)
  3. No Buddy Left Behind; Terri Crisp and Cindy Hurn - 5/5 (non fiction)
  4. Fairy Tale Interrupted; Rose Marie Terenzio - 1/5 (eBook)
  5. We the Animals; Justin Torres (contemporary fiction - audio book)
  6. A Moveable Feast; Ernest Hemingway (memoir) - 4.5/5
  7. Lone Wolf; Jodi Picoult (contemporary fiction - 5/5)
Books in Progress
  1. Horns; Joe Hill (audio book)

Movies

  1. It's Complicated ( 4th time seeing this one)
  2. Blind Side (2nd time seeing this one)
 March Plans

March is going to be a very busy month for me, so I am thinking that I probably will not be getting a lot of reading done.  I am participating in a 3-month long read-a-thon of Bleak House by Charles Dickens (this may be a huge mistake given what the month ahead looks like.  In addition, I plan to finish the audio book, Horns - Joe Hill (a really good audio). I also want to read: The Beginner's Goodbye; Anne Tyler, Dirt; David Vann, The Professor's Assassin, Matthew Pearl, the prequel to his latest release, The Technologists.

How did your month go? Any plans for March?

  1. I can't believe February is almost behind us.

I'm glad to see you enjoyed almost everything you read this month. Sounds like you have a busy March planned.

    Enjoy!

  2. Good luck reading Bleak House and your other books. Would you believe, I woke up thinking it was March 1 today. Hope it's a lucky leap year.

  3. I don't know where February went either! My reading is down as well due to neck/shoulder issues that are flaring up. Here's hoping for a March full of reading and healing! ;o)

  5. As you know, I've been ill and now that I'm well I'm too busy to do the things I want to do. I'm hoping that about a week from now, everything will get back to normal and I'll have more time for reading and blogging. Many good reads ahead.

  6. I don't read as fast as you do. I work full time but read whenever I can.

    BOOKS READ IN FEBRUARY
THE INVISIBLE ONES by Stef Penney
THE PHYSICK BOOK OF DELIVERANCE DANE by Katherine Howe

    READING NOW
AGENT 6 by Tom Rob Smith

    PLANS FOR MARCH
Have my husband choose for me a book from one of my to-read piles. I usually have him do this twice a month unless I am obligated to read and review an ARC, in which case that goes to the top of the pile.

  7. Diane, you had a great reading month! I didn't read as many books (but posted a lot on my blog). I can't believe March is so near! Enjoy your reading next month, even if it's hard to fit in. :)

  9. I have been so bad about keeping track of my reading this year, so I don't have a good idea of how many I've read. I have been reading spur-of-the-moment off of my shelves so far this year (other than the Indie Lit Awards panel books) and it's been fun.

  14. February was a good month for me. After making a game plan for each month and trying to stick as close to it as possible I feel like my reading has been more pleasurable for me. I've pretty much decided to quit taking any more review copies and just read what I want. I have Mar/April that have a lot of review commitments but after that very few. I hope that March isn't too stressful for you and I honestly think you had a great month of reading. I can honestly say that you have been a huge POSITIVE influence on my reading this year as I've finally embraced the audio book! I am actually getting more books read than I ever thought I could and I'm loving the time spent with the narrators!! Thank you so very much!!

  15. Other than some of those 1 star books, it looks like you had a wonderul month! Hope that March is just as great. I almost opted for the Bleak House readalong but the rules were a bit too intense for me. ;)
