Happy Mother's Day - How was your week?

Happy Mother's Day, this is certainly one that is sure to be different for many mothers.  We just completed week #8 of social distancing. I lost a day last week as I was sure that Saturday was only Friday until I looked at my phone. Are your days just blending together lately?
Over the past nearly 20 years it seems I've either spent Mother's Day in Aruba or at a timeshare by the water - reading and relaxing. This Mother's Day Aruba, isn't open to tourists from other countries and as a result, they have had fewer than 100, COVID-19 cases in that country when I checked last week.  The timeshare here that we have spending the last several years at on Mother's Day isn't available either because of the virus.  So we are home, thinking of the mothers who are no longer with us and sending the other mothers we love, heartfelt wishes that one day soon we will hug each other and be together again.
Outside…
It's been a partially cloudySunday with high 50's to 60 degree temps . I had to bring my mother's day plants in that last few evenings as it reached the lows 30s here.

                                                                 Reviews this Week:

                                                                     Reviews Needed

                                                    Currently Reading/or/listening to:
                                                         (quirky and enjoyable so far)
( dark, uncomfortable yet, hard to put down)
Watching…
Honestly, I didn't watch much television (well I sat there while it was on but wasn't invested in what was on except for one movie - (1991) Julia Roberts in Sleeping With the Enemy. I had seen it before but forgot some of it and loved it; very well done...she's a young wife with an wealthy, abusive, controlling husband. She comes up with a plan to escape by fakig her own death. Have you seen it?
Exercise and other highlights…
Well I tried to walk three times this week but could only do 15 minutes each day. About 15 years ago I tore my meniscus but, fortunately it wasn't a bad tear that would have required surgery. Over the years it's actually been great but, started acting up last Sunday. Icing it has caused more pain and anti-inflammatories haven't helped all that much so I've been taking it easy and the next plan is trying to eat healthier, avoiding sugar and processed foods. We'll see if I can avoid seeing a doctor.
Today’s To Do List…
Well the healthy eating starts tomorrow as a Mother's Day Dairy Queen drive-through treat is in store with perhaps some take out later on.

Retail Therapy...

Think summer, cool, crisp linen - always hard to buy online but most everything I buy from J Jill fits me perfectly and their clothes are made to last. It arrived a few days ago and I love it.

  1. That's too bad, Aruba is pretty special any time of the year. Happy Mother's Day from all of us!

  2. I'm sorry you didn't get to go anywhere this Mother's Day! I wish all this was behind us and we could go back to our normal lives although I will be more aware of touching my face from now on because until this started I didn't realize how often I do it. I've always been a fanatic about washing my hands so I'm good there.

    That shirt is very pretty!

    1. The "touching my face" was an eye-opener for sure. I still do it so much but I guess it's okay since we are social distancing - 8 weeks and counting.

  3. I'm usually at the beach with my mother and sister this week. My mom is 93 and we just didn't think it was a good idea to take her. Happy Mother's Day!

    1. That's too bad Kathy, I'm sure your mom looked forward to that but, it isn't worth the risk.

  4. It's definitely a strange Mother's Day for sure. It's been cold here as well. We haven't been able to go for walks much this week. Hopefully, the upcoming week is better.

    Those flower baskets are gorgeous!!

    Happy Mother's Day!

  5. Yep, my days blend together. If I didn’t have a phone, I’d never know what day it was. I hope you had an okay mother’s day.

  6. Mother's Day didn't go as we'd planned either, but it still turned out to be a good one. My treat today was takeout fried chicken - healthy eating returns tomorrow for us as well. I remember loving the audio version of Olive Kitteridge... hope it was a hit for you, too. J. Jill is one of my favorites and it's definitely time for some online retail therapy. Hope you have a good week.

    1. JoAnn, it seems like for many of us are finding the joy in our new normal , even if it isn't what we were used to. I did love Olive K.

  7. Time is definitely feels pretty meaningless these days, especially with the weather being so cold and unseasonable, too. What day is it? What *month*??

I finished reading My Dark Vanessa last weekend, and I couldn't believe how unputdownable it was. It's incredibly troubling, but I also think it might end up being one of my favorite books of the year.

  8. Late Mother's Day greetings to you too.
More watching you tube channels - all the detective dramas I like but reading a few classics which I downloaded from Amazon which were free. I've always wanted to read them but never got around to doing it. Very relaxed days at home.

    1. Mystica, I do love detective drama and those free Amazon eBooks as well. I have some classics to catch up on myself.

  9. We were on a cruise in the Caribbean for last Mother's Day so this year was very very low key.

    1. Low key is nice for a change but, we can't help but recall more exciting times.

  10. Happy Mother's Day. I was expecting it to be a hard day for me, unable to be around others with this cough, but my family made up for the distance by showering me with love from afar.

Doesn't Aruba sound like paradise now? My sister and I were in Paris just before this all began, and we think about what might have happened if we had gotten trapped there. Aruba sounds like a good place to be trapped in.

Hope you enjoyed Olive Kitteridge and I hope you enjoy Redhead. I must look for Hike and Kaia and the Bees and The Nest that Wren Built.

  11. Sounds like you had a nice Mother's Day despite not being in Aruba. Sounds wonderful right about now! We often have to ask each other what day it is!! I try to get out every day and walk and listen to audios. We have been doing quite a bit of home improvements. Have a great week.

  12. Happy Mother's Day! Your hanging baskets of flowers are wonderful, what a cheery thing to see on my feed while we're having a gloomy day here in So Cal.

  13. Today is Day 68 at home for us. The days do run together. We have to ask each other everyday what day it is. But the books I read don't care what day it is and reading is the best part of each day for me. My yard is so beautiful and I am somewhat grateful that I have all this time to be in it and tend it. Most of all I am grateful for good health! Wishing you a good week ahead.

  14. I jumped back onto the healthy eating path as well. Was doing really good. No gains but this past week the scale showed a ten lbs gain. I thought my scale was broken because I weigh every week but nope. Two scales later, still ten lbs on top of what I had to lose before. I know it's the wine. Damn it.

  15. Yes, a different Mother's Day, but I got to talk with our daughter as she was on her way to work and that was nice. And she sent some lovely roses to me a couple of days earlier. Such pretty colors. I'll include a picture of them in my next post. We've had to cancel our big trip for summer and as it was for our 40th anniversary, I'm sad about that. However, we've just pushed it forward to 2021 at the same time and location. Anyway, hope you have a good week!

  16. I discovered that apparently one of my primary hobbies is touching my face. I do it CONSTANTLY! Spending your Mother's Day at the beach definitely sounds like the way to go but hopefully you still had a lovely day!

  17. Yes, my days have felt mixed-up, too. I kept thinking Monday was Sunday. Very odd. I wonder if in a few years, we'll all lose a year when talking about a particular event that happened either before or after 2020. I know I experienced this after the death of a loved one. It was as if that year happened in an alternate universe! I would catch myself saying that something happened two years ago when it was really three. So strange.

I remember Sleeping With the Enemy. It was so creepy and intense! Not sure if I could watch it again.

I hope your knee heals quickly. Mine has given me trouble for many years, but as long as I don't give into the desire to go for a run, I'm ok. I can walk and bike and play Pickleball (back when we could do that) without any trouble, but jogging is not good for it!

I'm sorry you weren't able to go to Aruba this year. I feel very fortunate that I was able to help my mom celebrate Mother's Day since we live under the same roof. I made her Crab Cakes Benedict for dinner, which she thoroughly enjoyed (as did we!).

Beautiful blouse from J Jill. I have a blouse that I bought there last year (before my daughter's wedding) and still haven't worn it! It's tempting to buy new clothes right now, but I may wait a while since I have nowhere to wear them! ;)

Happy belated Mother's Day. Hope the rest of your week goes well.

  18. Your Mother Days of yesteryear sound wonderful. I hope that next year at this time we can be at a closer version of normal in the world.

  19. I see you "watch" tv like I do - it's on and I'm in the room but I'm not usually paying any attention to it either!
