Mailbox Monday Mailbox Monday is being hosted by Bermudaonion for September (http://bermudaonion.wordpress.com/) What book loot arrived in your mailbox this week?
Here's what I got:
(I am looking forward to all of the above)
- Revolution; Jennifer Donnelly (Shelf Awareness)
- Rescue; Anita Shreve (Hachette)
- Distant Hours; Kate Morton (Atria Books)
- The Fall; Del Toro and Logan
- Life Would Be Perfect If I Lived in This House Megan Daum (win from Laurel) - sounds good!
- Vermilion Drift; Krueger (Atria Books)
You got some good books! I only once tried Anita Shreve - two years ago? It never worked, maybe I should give her a try again.
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous of everyone who received Revolution...
ReplyDeleteEnjoy all your new books!
Yes, I have gotten some strange unsolicited books! I bet Distant Hours is a good one. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOoh, great mailbox, Diane! I really want to read Revolution.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of most of these books, so I will be excited to hear more about them and see what you think of them. Enjoy your new arrivals!
ReplyDeleteEvery once in a while I get a book way out of my usual genre boundaries and wonder how I got it. Then I look back and sometimes see that I myself requested it! But almost invariably, the information given on the book was incomplete or misleading, and I didn't know what it was actually about!
ReplyDeleteI really like Shreve so I look forward to seeing what you think of this one.
ReplyDeleteLike Rhapsody commented, I sometimes (not too often)think "where did this come from" and then track back to find that I requested (or accepted)it thinking it was something completely different.
ReplyDeleteI don't often get unsolicited books, and have become much more picky about those I request so I don't get too far behind, but still look forward to that mailbox every week. You got some goodies..looking forward to your reviews.
Received The Power by Rhonda Byrne, not my type of book, but just so happened to be on my sons college reading list, so off it went to him.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to hearing your opinion of Kate Morton's book, The Distant Hours. I have loved her previous books.
I wish I had that problem! I have only started getting very few review books and have had to write extensive requests in order to get them, unsolicated? I wish! :)
ReplyDeleteI've seen Revolution in a couple of mailboxes and I really want to read it! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteThe cover of Revolution is so striking!
ReplyDeleteYou have some really nice books. The Anita Shreve one and I like the title Vermillion!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your mailbox, I love Anita Shreve. Didn't know about Rescue. I know Kate Morton from The House of Riverton. I hear that's a good book too. Haven't had a chance to read it. Really great books, enjoy.

The new Anita Shreve AND the new Kate Morton? I'm so jealous. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAdd me to the Revolution admirers (hoping I remembered to sign up for this one from SA too). Also would love to read the new Shreve book.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
You received some great books this week Diane! I received Revolution also and am a big fan of Jennifer Donnelly and look forward to reading this one. Rescue sounds great also. Lucky you to get a copy of Distant Hours! I'm reading House at Riverton now and like her writing.
ReplyDeleteI have been getting more unsolicited books also. Some outside my interests and some within. It's hard when you get a book that you're really not interested in reading at all.
I think you're gonna need a bigger mailbox!
ReplyDeleteWow, you got the Kate Morton book. Oooh, I am drooling with envy. I love her books. Enjoy it!!
ReplyDeleteThe Big Guy is now reading Vermilion Drift. He says it's interesting so far.
I got a copy of The Fall as well, apparently unsolicited. I checked my emails and couldn't see where I'd requested it, though I probably would have if asked.
ReplyDelete"Distant Hours" looks good! I have "The Forgotten Graden" on my TBR shelf and need to get to it SOON!!! Happy Monday :)
ReplyDeleteHey Diane!
ReplyDeleteI am getting The Distant Hours too, but was asked first. I do get a LOT of unsolicted books in the YA genre that are not normally what I read. Most are of the angsty teenager-y broody boy that the girl can't seem to stay away from variety. But every once in awhile I get an unsolicted book that I L-O-V-E! Like LEVIATHAN, or the one I'm reading now, "The Clockword Angel". So I'm not complaining! But I find that they do tend to pile up and if they are not my cup of tea I usually make an effort, but will not finish them if I have not requested them. Life is too short to read books you don't want to read!
:0)
Good ones!
ReplyDeleteHave a great reading week ahead! Here is my Mondays: Mailbox/Where Am I/Musings post.
You got some great books! I have never received unsolicited review copies, though I can imagine that [especially eclectic bloggers] would receive some pretty far-out stuff!
ReplyDeleteRevolution, Rescue, and Distant Hours are all going on my wish list! Enjoy all your new reads!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new books, Diane!
ReplyDeleteI've only received a few unsolicited books . . . .
I didn't know Kate Morton had a new book out. I keep hearing about Del Toro too
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read the new Shreve book - I love her first 3-4 books. I think I have read just about everything she has written.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of "Rescue" by Anita Shreve...wow, she is prolific! I hope it's good! "Distant Hours" sounds very good! Same for"Life Would Be Perfect if I Lived in This House"! Great selection! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI am not fortunate enough to receive unsolicited review copies yet. But I have only been blogging about 8 months. Hopefully I will get some one day. But I would rather not get too may in genres I don't like!

I'm pretty much in love with all of your books!!! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteLove Jennifer Donnelly and am looking forward to Revolution.
ReplyDeleteI have not received any unsolicited books.
I just received a book today that I have no clue where it came from. It seems like a good book, but right now, I'm not even accepting new review books until I'm caught up, so it will head to the very bottom of the pile! Revolution seems wonderful!

I love Anita Shreve - can't wait to see what you think of this one!
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm out of reading material and getting ready to visit the library, I always stop by your blog and search for new titles. I'll pass on Anita Shreve, though.
ReplyDeleteOoh I really want to read Distant Hours, enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThese look fantastic! I've only read one Anita Shreve (Testimony), which I enjoyed, so I'm looking forward to reading more!
ReplyDeleteSo nice! I haven't been book shopping much lately. Enjoy your new books and happy reading!
