Waiting on Wednesday was started by Jill over at Breaking the Spine. What's your pick this week? Here is mine:
The Red Garden; Alice Hoffman
Crown - January - 2011
Very little is being said about the story line of Alice Hoffman's January release, THE RED GARDEN , however, I was able to find this little blurb so --on my wish list it goes:
I'm hoping this might be like Practical Magic - which I enjoyed.
The cover looks enticing. I am one of few people who liked the movie Practical Magic more than the book. Perhaps if I had read the book first I would have enjoyed it more. I do like her writing style and would try her again. Can't wait to hear what you have to say about this book.
ReplyDeleteOh, I want that one too. What a fabulous cover!
ReplyDeleteOoo, I heart Alice Hoffman.
ReplyDeleteThis book is going straight onto my wish list-if the cover is any reflection of what is inside it looks great.
ReplyDeleteHmm, never read any book by this author or saw the movie you mention! I will have to check her works out.
ReplyDeleteI've never read anything by this author and how strange there isn't alot of information on it. I hope you enjoy it :)
ReplyDeleteCome see what my WOW is this week
With secrets and magic it has got to be interesting!
ReplyDeleteGoing on my wish list! I LOVE Hoffman....
ReplyDeleteBut January??? I don't know if I can wait...sigh.

YAY! Thanks for posting this. I love her books. :) Really excited for a new one! My WOW is at The Crowded Leaf.
ReplyDeleteI am still trying to find an Alice Hoffman book that I love. Will this be it?
ReplyDeleteHow intriguing that description is! I may have to read this one sometime.
ReplyDeleteThis one's on my calendar too! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOh that sounds good... I just posted a review with magical realism and plants. Hothouse Flower. I do think you gave it a 5 star on goodreads? It was a fun read.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why the mystery about the plot? I used to read all of her books but then stopped at one point and never went back. If this seems good, perhaps I'll pick her up again.
ReplyDeleteAlice Hoffman is a favorite of mine.
ReplyDeleteThis one sounds soooo good. It does remind me of Practical Magic a bit.

I would love it if it was like Practical Magic!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's really nothing like Practical Magic, and yet it does have the traditional Hoffman magical realism.
ReplyDeleteI thoroughly enjoyed it. It reminded me of how we really learn stories of people's lives, where you find out little pieces of a story that happened in real life, "once upon a time".
As usual with Hoffman, there is subtle humor and a lot of melancholy moments. But they are good moments of sadness!
