My 1,000th Post - I can hardly believe it. I've been blogging since June of 2008. I thought about doing something special, but lately I've been reading a lot of posts where blogger's say they get really annoyed with so many blogs doing giveaways, too many memes, and too many bloggers touring the same book over and over again. None of those things really bother me (except for maybe seeing the book toured over and over again). So no matter what I post today or any day, there will be people who like it and others who don't -- right?
So I thought I'd just share some of my favorite books with you instead,. Here's a list of (25) books I loved, because after all it.........my blog....my 1,000th post....my call.....right?

Congrats :-) You've listed some great books there. I've read (and loved!) Rebecca, Life of Pi, Water for Elephants, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night, The Help and Cutting for Stone. But I've been hearing good things about Toni Morrison lately...
ReplyDeletecongrats - Ive always wanted to live on my own as well although Im sure the novelty of doing as I please would wear off.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Diane! Here's to thousands more :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 1000th post!
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed all 11 of the books in your top 25 that I've read and have many more in my TBR pile. The only book that is new to me is Moloka'i; Alan Brennert so I'm off to look it up :-)
Here's to your next 1000 posts!
Congratulations! I don't think I've read all 1000 but I've enjoyed every one I have read! And I love the lists - what unusual things - I am with you on many of those 10 things, like the Keurig, the clean linens, and the pens, pencils, and post-its!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on sharing 1,000 times, Diane! That's an accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteI've only read 6 of your 25 favorites. I'll keep the others in mind. I haven't done half of your "never done" things - I've done the other half. Guess which? LOL (Ya gotta watch Star Wars and I hate sushi!)
Congrats! That's a lot of posts! And of course I'm in it for the long haul! =)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a fun way to celebrate 1000 posts! CONGRATS! :)
ReplyDelete1,000 is a huge achievement--congratulations, Diane!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for reviewing audiobooks: as my eyesight fails, I'm listening to more of them. You're a great source.
Congrats on your thousandth post! I hope there are thousands more in your future!!
ReplyDeleteKudos to you, kiddo, for 1000 posts! You and I could be soul sisters as far as the ten things you hate. I'm glad to see you put Rebecca on the top of the list. She'd be on my list too. Please read W&P, despite its length, it's a good book. C&P? ha ha read Jenners (find your next book here)opinions on that one! You will lol! Hope to read your next 1000 posts.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and all good wishes for the future.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! May you have many more thousands!
ReplyDeleteHugs from Delhi!
I have soooo many comments I want to make, but I'll try to keep this short. HA!
ReplyDelete1. Congratulations on your 1,000 post! I just passed mine last week. I hemmed and hawed about "celebrating" and decided against it. No real reason why.
2. Great list of 25! One I want to read: Rebecca, one I loved too: The Help, and one I didn't like at all: The Bonesetter's Daughter
3. Love, love, love my Keurig, too!
4. Oh my goodness!!! There's someone else in the world that HATES "pop-ins." I am the only one in my friends and family circle that HATES that and nobody understands. :( It frustrates me to no end.
5. I haven't done a lot of the "never done" things either, but I have served on a jury and LOVED it!!! I am usually the only one (in my circle) that wishes to be selected.
6. I just realized that maybe I need to change my circle. LOL j/k
Well, this was so much fun for me to read and respond to. Again - Happy 1,000th Post! Here's to another 1,000 more. :)
Congratulations! What a huge milestone!! And, I love the way you celebrated with your lists...I too have a marker obsession, can't STAND to pump gas, and have never served on a jury (I would LOVE to, though my father, a lawyer and former judge, tells me I'd never get picked). :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE, LOVE, LOVE your blog!
Congrats Diane! Here's wishing you many more thousands of posts :)
ReplyDeleteContrats! That's a great big bunch of posting! I really liked your 10 lists too.

ReplyDeleteI love your lists!! Some awesome books listed there, and many that I want to read too. Congrats on your 1,000th post, that is a huge milestone.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! You know, I've never lived alone either. Or gotten a tattoo. I've read some - loved most that you mentioned except Life of Pi - and need to read lots on there. Thanks for the list!
ReplyDeleteWOW -- 1000 posts -- very verbose of you :) Congrats! Thanks for sharing more of yourself and some books I have not read. I don't need a giveaway to keep coming back. Love your blog. Looking forward to more.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on you 1000th post! Awesome! I have read some on your list, but I see others on there that I have on my wish list and still more that I haven't heard of. I'll have to do some browsing online later today (and possibly lengthen my wish list yet again).
ReplyDelete1,000 posts...how awesome is that? I've read a lot of the books you listed! You've never lived alone or baby-sat?? I liked reading your lists. And in regards to other peoples thoughts on how we should run our blogs...who cares! Do what you want to do and no matter what I will always be a loyal reader as I love to read what you have to say!
ReplyDeleteHooray! Congrats! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the milestone!

Hope you get to eat sushi one day. It's just seafood really, you can eat them cooked:)
1000 posts!? Wow, that is impressive. Congrats! :D

ReplyDelete1000 posts...wow! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI have read Rebecca and Life of Pi and they are actually among my favorites. I have Middlesex, Crimson Petal and the White, and Water for Elephants close to the top of the tbr pile. Hopefully, will get to them soon.
I hate pop-ins too! My house is never presentable enough for pop-ins...LOL!
Here I am, a day late and a dollar short! But congrats. anyway.
ReplyDeleteI love your lists...I hate all of the same things you put on your hate list!
And you still have time to do some of the things on your "not done" list. You really should read those Russian guys...Tolstoy and Dostoevsky.
But only if you really want to!
Congrats to you. Your blog is always a pleasure!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 1,000th post! How exciting!
ReplyDeleteThere were several on your list that I would consider my favorites too.
You hate coupons? gasp! How could you?! lol! Probably because of people like me, who use coupons at almost every shopping trip and sometimes hold up the lines because the cashiers think I'm trying to get away with something illegal. But..since I save between $1,500-$2000 a year, I don't plan to stop any time soon.
I never changed a diaper until I watched my oldest nephew. It was a last minute request from my sister when their sitter got sick and they left the house within minutes after I arrived. Later that night I went to put him in his pj's and was like oh crap! I have to change his diaper. How the heck do you do that!? lol!
Great post!...and not just because it's your 1000th!
ReplyDeleteI love that you posted 25 of your favorite books, recommendations are always appreciated. And I like to know a little bit more about bloggers that their tatse in books. I especially like your list of the things you've never donw...very cool!
