I'm moving a little slow today as yesterday we celebrated (3) birthdays in our family: daughter, daughter-in-law and son-in-law (all within a 3 week period..(ages 30-39)....yup, I'm old. Both of the birthday gals are the expectant moms, so they was plenty to celebrate. Since everyone's favorite food seems to be turkey - we had another Thanksgiving dinner, the only difference was the only dessert was birthday cake and ice cream instead of all the pies that normally comes with a Thanksgiving meal. It was a tiring but special day and our granddaughter who will be (2) next month was entertaining as always.
Today -- no cooking, just leftover turkey. I was busy cleaning out kitchen drawers and closets. I filled (2) trash bags full of clothes and like new high heels that I will unlikely wear again. I hope some thrift store shoppers will like my discards:)

~Have a good week everyone~
The time with your family sounds wonderful! We got several of the same books - I think we're both in for some good reading.
ReplyDeleteI am clearing out cupboards as well and taking bags to the op shop here. In Australia the op shops are very popular and there are fabulous finds always to be got. I do like your books especially the Ellen Gilchrist ones.
ReplyDeleteMultiple family b-day celebrations the best... and I would love a turkey leftover meal today! We're leaving for Florida at the end of the week, but when I come back I'm going to go through my closet, too. If I haven't worn it in a couple of years, chances are I never will...
ReplyDeleteLook at all those beautiful books! Also, congrats to the expectant mothers and their grandmother!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthdays! It's such a good feeling to clean out clutter and find a new home for stuff. Enjoy your bright new books, Diane!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love family celebrations! Your family is growing...fun! I admire you for cleaning out drawers and closets. On my to do list!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a satisfying weekend. All of your books are so colorful, maybe they'll bring spring with them :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a busy, but fun day! So many books! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWe love turkey dinners and I try to fix one every 3-4 months rather than just in November. Nothing better than leftover turkey for sandwiches and soup!
ReplyDeleteI need to start clearing out closets, too. The basement is on my list for summer projects, but I could really tackle the bedroom closets this spring. Thanks for the motivation. :)
You did have a busy week, but so lucky to have your daughter and son and families close enough for birthday celebrations. Mine are too far away and my kids are almost 45 & 49. So you are not old! Spring cleaning is on my agenda probably next week, this week more planning of a 90th birthday party for my MIL.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to all. Sounded like a lovely week. No, not old at all :) I enjoyed this latest list of books you have shared. I just got through Louise Penny's "How The Light Gets In" in the Inspector Armand Gamache series. Such a great read!
ReplyDeleteGreat set of book. Chop Chop caught my interest. Hope you love them all.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to all! We have multiple birthdays like that in Jan/Feb. 7 to be exact! My closets are waiting for me to clean them out and I must be brutal this time!
ReplyDeleteWe've got a couple of the same books but I see some new ones in there too.
ReplyDeleteSounds like it's going to be a busy but fun family year for you. Yesterday I was at a baby shower for my niece so I've got that 'getting old' feeling too.
So funny that they all wanted turkey. I love turkey, myself.
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated Bday to all of them!
What a fun and love-filled day! Looks like a great selection of books.
ReplyDeleteWe like turkey dinners several times a year. Good economical meals with plenty of leftovers. You're having quite a population explosion. If I ever get over my cough, I have to sort out books for the book sale, for friends, and for recycling. Quick, before the floor caves in! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Diane,
ReplyDeleteWe have multiple birthdays like that, only in May, so there is always just one big family celebration.
I work at the 'coal face' so to speak, in a charity shop, so I get to sort through all the lovely donations ... my speciality of course, are the books! I have been doing this for some 20 years now and never tire of it.
Lisa Gardner books are always a good read for me, although unlike yourself, I can never have more than one book on the go at the same time.
You have so many new books to choose from this time, however Closed Doors caught my eye in particular. This is a new to me author, but one that definitely needs checking out in more depth.
I hope that this coming week isn't such a busy one for you and that you enjoyed your leftover turkey ... it often tastes even better this way!
Yvonne
What a weekend! It sounds like it was your turn for the whirlwind birthdays this past weekend while mine was the weekend before. :-)
ReplyDeleteYour new books sure look like they will be good. Have a great week, Diane!
Happy birthday! Sounds like a wonderful celebration. Enjoy all your new books!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it feel good to clean out closets? It is a daunting chore but worth it in the end. I got rid of a ton of stuff while I was out on leave - even some (gasp!) books!
ReplyDeleteI need to clear out some drawers and closets...and shred some stuff. Tasks I've been putting off for too long.
ReplyDeleteGreat collection of books! I'm curious about the Gilchrist books...and Driving Lessons.
Sounds like a wonderful time with family and soon more grandbabies - lucky you! Lots of good books too. You're going to be busy. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteSome great looking books there! I've got a couple on my wish list.
ReplyDeleteI decided to do this thing where you fill 40 bags in 40 days... I am not sure if I will reach 40 just because we threw so much stuff out before we moved, but I am going to attempt to declutter a bit and this seems like a relaxed way to do it. :)
