After the Storm

Here a a few photos taken yesterday (January 12th), after 18" of new snow fell around here. Work was canceled and schools are closed again today for the second day in a row.  We have a late (10am) opening at work today, which was a nice surprise, even though I did get up at 5:30am as usual.  I love the snow as long as I can stay home and enjoy it.

  5. The cats have the right idea! Stay toasty warm. It's mighty cold even in FL this morning.

  6. We never get snow, so that looks so nice, peaceful, and a day off wouldn't be so bad either! Enjoy the late start work day.

  7. We had a storm come through here on Monday and schools are still out. It warms up during the day and freezes at night, so we've got an icy mess on our hands. Can you tell I'm not enjoying it?

  8. I now will quit complaining about my 6 inches of snow! I think Libby and Freckles have the right idea. They look so cozy!

  9. I heard yesterday the 49 of the 50 states had snow on the ground. All except where we are in FL!

  10. Texas had snow, but not as far south as Austin. We're cold but dry. I'm glad as we more often get ice storms, which are a mess. Your kitties look content.

  11. So far, the blizzards have missed us and we got maybe 2-3 inches. There is another chance this weekend though!

  12. We had 18 inches down here too...and now the sun is out and it all looks beautiful

  13. What gorgeous photos of your cats and the snow! Cats are so smart. They know where to go for warmth. My cat (and dog, too) go into the sunniest room on cold days.

I hope you enjoy your "snow day", Diane.

Hope you drive safely! Please be careful out there.

    Your "babies" are totally adorable!

  15. 18" -- wow! Are your cats curious about the snow?

  16. Winter weather and fire photos seem to be a trend this week!

I didn't remember to get one of my kitty, though - although I think he enjoyed us being home to snuggle up and keep him company for a few days.

  17. I'm in upstate New York, where heavy snowfall is the norm, but yesterday was ridiculous! It never stopped!

  18. That snow is incredible! I would love to be one of those cats curled up by the fire.

  19. I must agree, your feline friends look so cozy. I would love to spend a snow day curled up in front of a fire with some furry cuddles.

  21. Totally jealous of your fireplace and the picture perfect kitties. Love them!

  22. Would you think I am weird if I said I am jealous of all of the snow that you got?? I just love a good snowstorm...although I hate driving in it :)

  24. Wow.. 18 inches! Maybe I should move to a New England state! Stay warm and cozy!

  25. Whoa! I don't miss that about living in New England! Beautiful as long as you don't have to go out in it. Enjoy!

  26. I want a snow day! Without the hassle of snow, though. ;-)

  27. Gosh, I have never seen snow fall at all. At least I don't remember it.

  28. How sensible of Libby and Freckles, the only place to be on a day like this is in front of the fire.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Oh...I love that big orange and white kitty. Is that Freckles? He looks like a love.

  30. That's the same there although we've gotten a bit more snow than you have. They are finally grating our front street and using semis to haul the snow away. lol. I wish they closed things down here when there is snow but no such luck. Hope you're staying safe in all that mess.

  32. Wow, that is amazing. I want to go jump in it...with my mouth open. Then, I'm sure I'll want to take a hot shower and have a cup of hot chocolate.

  34. It snowed here last Sunday. We didn't get as much as you did, but we enjoyed staying home and watching football. Well, Darren and I enjoyed it. Claire got pretty restless by the end of the day...

  35. It all looks so pretty but cold! Hope you are staying warm over there :)

  36. Woo hoo! Snow Day for Diane and her kitties! Love them by the fire...

  37. Your snow is beautiful and your cats are so cute! I'm glad we didn't get much snow. We had a light dusting with a thin sheet od ice on top.

  38. We only had about 7 inches of the fluffy stuff, but it was enough to cancel school for two days.

I'm with you -- I LOVE snow when I can stay home in front of the fireplace and enjoy it.

  39. Oh my goodness, that photo with all the snow at your doorstep is amazing! Although it is good to snuggle up indoors huh? Your cats look cute too :)
