New Additions - This time it's Cats not Books

I know I said we weren't ready for more cats after the last of our cats passed away on November 6th at 16.5 years.  However, I haven't been without a cat in 36 years and, the hub agreed that our home wasn't quite the same without cats. Although we were "just looking" when we visited the shelter, when Ricky jumped on my lap and made himself comfortable, the deal was sealed.  Of course, we had to take his sister Lucy (another sweetie) as well.

They came home with us yesterday and they are 7 months old . We were surprised to learn that they came from a shelter in Georgia so, they had quite the journey from GA to New England.  We can't believe what an easy adjustment it was for them and us, although I did clean up one knocked over plant :)  My fault for having plants right?

We renamed the duo as they each had a long name that we had never heard of before. Now called Lucy and Ricky, they have made themselves at home, comfortable on our laps, love to play with toys etc. We love how relatively calm they are even though their still kittens. They love to bathe each other - we are so happy we adopted both.

  9. I'm so happy for you - and them. So true that it's not a home without a cat. We adopted a Ragdoll/Siamese mix in August. I could only manage 6 months without a cat in my life. He's beautiful and makes me laugh several times a day. We live in NH and many shelter animals are transported up here from the South. The local shelters are no-kill but unfortunately that's not the case down South. Wishing you the most Purrfect Holidays!!

    1. Jennifer, yes, it does seem like lots of southern cats and dogs come to our shelters. My SIL got a Caviler King Charles from GA that was transported with other to CT.

  10. A year after our cat died, I was still crying, so we decided to get another cat at the Michigan Humane Society. The day before we went there, though, my niece called and begged me to take the kitten she and her husband didn't want with their new baby (I know, silly). So we took their long-haired kitten and are now in love with her (even though Keith has to brush her every day). She is just what I needed.

    1. It's amazing how certain pets leave such emptiness in our lives. Lucy reminds us so much of our Lily that we lost almost 2 years ago that we accidentally call the new girl Lil.

  16. Oh my they are beautiful! I felt the same when I lost Buddy. You get so used to having pets that the house just isn’t the same without them.
