"It's the cooling bathwater that wakes me. Disoriented, I sit up quickly, sploshing suds up the sides, wondering how long I've been asleep..  I release the plug and the drain gurgles, a too-loud noise in a silent house.

A shiver pricks my skin as I towel myself dry.  A memory tugs at my brain. It was a sound that woke me, the roar of a motorbike in the street outside.  I pause, the towel stretched over my back.  It couldn't have been Adam, could it?  He wouldn't have gone off on his bike, not at this time of night."

I've read every book by this author, some better than others. What do you think of the intro?

  2. I'd read it because of the author because I've enjoyed her previous books. :) No sure if the intro would catch my attention, but B.A. Paris does!

  5. i'd keep reading as fast as possible. I didn't know this author had written another book--I've read them all so far and they've been gripping.

  6. That sure doesn't sound overly exciting.

  7. I'm wondering if this is as good as her previous one... I loved this author, but the first line is not terribly fantastic - however - the atmosphere is building and I can see things starting to change. Funny how the first line hook seems to be a thing that is taught, but I don't often see well-known authors do that... Still want to read this though, as I am a fan, just a PICKY ONE LOL

  10. Intriguing intro. It makes me think that things aren't going super well for this character. Paris is an author I've really been wanting to read and this one sounds interesting.

  11. Definitely an intro that grabbed my attention. I'd have to read on to find out who Adam is if for no other reason.
