Sunday Salon - April 5th

This is the first Sunday Salon I have participated in, but since I enjoy reading yours, I decided to give it a go.

I've been very keyed up this week; the chocolate has been calling me as a result. We are moving in 22 days, so I have been making loads of lists and packing quite a bit. I'm a bit of a control freak, and although hubby has asked to help, I've declined his offer. There are several loose ends that will have to stay on the list until the last few days.

I thought I was paying plenty for health insurance now: $556/month (just for me) but my new plan will be $589/month!
And, the #1 STRESSOR: a loved one with cancer was given 4-6 months to live on Friday :( very sad --we feel very helpless).

So since today is a gorgeous day, we plan to take a walk along the ocean, come back and do a little more packing, and then sit out on the deck and read a little to try and relax.

On a surprising note: Lilly at Reading Extravaganza, awarded me the Zombie Chicken Award (LOL).
Here's what the award's all about:

"The blogger who receives this award believes in the Tao of the zombie chicken - excellence, grace and persistence in all situations, even in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. These amazing bloggers regularly produce content so remarkable that their readers would brave a raving pack of zombie chickens just to be able to read their inspiring words. As a recipient of this world-renowned award, you now have the task of passing it on to at least 5 other worthy bloggers. Do not risk the wrath of the zombie chickens by choosing unwisely or not choosing at all..."

So Thank you Lilly, I appreciate this award, and I pass this honor on to the following:

1) Jeanette's Reading Journal - she really gives me some great new ideas.
2)Booksie's Blog - we tend to read a lot of the same types of books
3)The Great Bookshops Blog - I love independent book stores; so worthy of an award
4) Ramyas Bookshelf - just because I enjoy her posts
5)The Blog of Unnecessary Quotation Marks - this blog is just so cool

Have a great Sunday everyone, and if all goes well, enjoy a good book.

  1. Hope you enjoy your walk, and your fun award. Have a good week.

  2. Zombie chickens. I love this award. I also love your blog. Be well this week and don't allow the shifts in life overwhelm you.

  3. Sorry about the news about the loved one - I know only too well what that is like.

I hope your walk along the ocean was just perfect.

  4. Welcome to the Sunday Salon, Diane! Congratulations on the award!

Yum. Chocolate! I've avoided the candy aisles, not wanting to be tempted. I am not sure that will last though.

I am so sorry, Diane, about your loved one's diagnosis. That is very sad news. Add that to the stress of moving . . . My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  5. Welcome to the Sunday Salon!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your loved one. :( I hope that your soul gets an extra measure of hope today.

  6. Ugggh, I'm a bit of a control freak myself so I get where you're coming from. Nobody can do it better or faster than me in my world. I have eaten enough chocolate this weekend to last me a while and give me a headache. lol.

Sorry about the news of your loved one. We are experiencing the same thing here. Seems so unfair. Take care...

  7. The chocolate is always calling my name, but I understand what you mean about it being worse in times of stress. I hope that your move goes well. I'm sorry to hear that your family and your loved one are facing such horrible news!

  8. Diane,

I am so sorry to hear about your loved one. I know how devastating that news is. My father passed away in January from cancer. I hope that your move goes smoothly and that you settle in nicely.

  9. Diane I'm sorry to hear about your loved one's news. Sending some good thoughts your way.

Hopefully that zombie chicken award and a day of reading and relaxing helped a bit to ease the stress.

  10. Every reader I know is a control freak. Must go with the territory. good luck with your move.

  11. If you think your medical insurance is costly now, I hope you did not vote for Obama. It is only going to get more expensive. Of course, he did not tell anyone that. In addition, you will be paying for the medical insurance of many others. He did not tell you that, either.
