Meet Roxy the iRobot Roomba 780
my new best friend
Why Do I Love Thee?
- She can turn herself on and off and even find her way back to her docking station.
- She's quiet and never complains (like I did ) when it's time to vacuum.
- The cats are pretty fascinated with her instead of running to the basement like when I used the noisy and heavy Dyson.
- She does a great job on hardwoods and on carpets.
- She doesn't disturb me while I enjoy my coffee and a good book.
- She navigates her way around anything and redirects herself when she bumps into something.
- She even found dirt under the furniture (imagine that).
- She's a terrific conversation piece,.
- She has a red light "trash bin" that lights up when her dirt receptacle is full.
- and the best reason of all.....She was free.
Oh man, that is so cool! Haha I like reason #5 - very important!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is cool! So, she works pretty well, then? I'd always wondered how effective those were... I, too, like reason #5 and I'd be right with you on reason # 10, haha :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm printing this out to use as part of my campaign to get a Roomba. I'm think reason #2 may be particularly helpful! Thanks, Diane!
ReplyDeleteActually, that should be "I'm thinking!" Sorry for the jet-lagged commenting :)
DeleteOne of the greatest inventions ever.
ReplyDeleteReason #2 is also important.XD
I'll bet my Boots would feel the same way as your cats.
ReplyDeleteI hope you love it! We bought one last year to try it (love the concept). We decided not to keep it since the brand we tried would run for hours and hours... but it was quiet!
ReplyDeleteFree... can't beat that. Go Roxy Go!
I'm so jealous. Even if she wasn't free, I'd still be jealous. Imagine someone else working to suck up all the cat hair. Here's Mine
ReplyDeleteI think my floors would enjoy having Roxy, as I really hate vacuuming with my heavy contraption.
ReplyDeleteI've looked at these fondly, but I always think about them getting hung up or stalled...I guess not!
Thanks for sharing.
Here's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT POST
My friend enjoyed hers until it set off the motion detector in her alarm system while she was out! Still uses it, but only when she's home. lol
ReplyDeleteI think I'm in love!
ReplyDeleteLOL!
ReplyDeleteWe have one of those on our wish list for our wedding, for all your above mentioned reasons.
My sister has one, hers is male and called Truls. :-)
Our daughter and son-in-law had a roomba. You're right, it is a conversation piece. Not sure if the dogs were partly to blame for its demise.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I want one for my pool.
ReplyDeleteNise, we have one for our pool. It's great. We call it "creepy"
DeleteLove your name for name for the Roomba, Kaye! "Creepy" is hilarious...and appropriate too!
DeleteOh no, an automatic cat chaser!
ReplyDeleteI definitely need one of these...I don't get to the vacuuming nearly as often as I should! How did you manage to snag a free one? :)
ReplyDeleteWow! I have never, ever, seen or heard of one of those, but it is so amazing.Do we have them in the UK I wonder?
ReplyDeleteOMG, I want one! This looks like everyone's' dream!
ReplyDeleteso, I'm totally jealous... vacuuming my floors is a pain. I'm just afraid that if I got a rhomba, my kids would be all over it, messing it up... I am tempted though, way to sell it :) Book Savvy Babe
ReplyDeleteIt's real and a new way friend with all the lovely things.
ReplyDeleteThis all seems a little freaky and futuristic, but awesome! Maybe even I would do the vacuuming if I had one of these :-)
ReplyDeleteI want one! Luckily for me my husband does the hoovering but I'm sure he would love to not do it!
ReplyDeleteFree is great! This is on my wish list.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid one of those would get under my couch and be so horrified it would never come out again.
ReplyDeleteYow!! Have fun with your new friend, Diane.
Wow! A live-in maid!! :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that looks so cool!
ReplyDeletenow the FREE part I REALLY LIKE!! MOL!!
ReplyDeleteHmmm...you have piqued my interest when you said the cats don't mind it.
I am thinking my Sheltie would try to "herd" it though but that might be rather funny to watch
I so much want one of those! My yellow lab sheds like crazy and I have to vacuum at least once a day to keep up with it.
ReplyDeleteI want one of those but it needs to do stairs too!
ReplyDeleteI borrowed one from a friend years ago and tried it. Guess this newer generation is more intelligent than the one I used. ;)
ReplyDeleteHow the heck did you get this for free??? We bought one of these for my mother-in-law a few years ago and it wasn't cheap. I think this is exactly what I need to constantly work on the dog hair that I don't seem to be able to control :/
ReplyDeleteI'd love to meet Roxy - when can she come over for a visit?
ReplyDeleteThat's what I need. Vacuuming gives my back a fit. I could sit and read while Roxy cleans.
ReplyDeleteMy neighbors have one and they love it! The kids love to follow it around. You make a great case for getting one … except I'm not sure I could score a free one!
ReplyDeleteRoxy is very cute and sounds well worth getting even if you have to pay for it! I was going to ask you how the cats reacted so thanks for the info! The 'quiet' aspect of Roxy would work well for my kitties. I know a few would follow Roxy around and 1 would attack her!
ReplyDeleteHow nice for you to be able to sit around while your floor gets clean. Brilliant!
Free? I wish I could score one like that! My son loves his Roomba.
ReplyDeleteFree and doesn't bother you while you read? Sounds like a winner to me!!
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by.
I have a older model that's been roaming around our house for several years now. It occasionally docks and charges, too!
ReplyDelete:)
Roxy looks a little bit like a Walkman. Does she play music?
ReplyDeleteWANT!
ReplyDeleteI think I'll have to get one of these!
ReplyDeleteI totally want one of these! I would love to not have to vacuum anymore.
ReplyDeleteMy comment will be unrelated -- yet... so related.
ReplyDeleteLast night I was watching Saturday Night Live and almost spewed beer through my nose, laughing at the punchline on one of the Weekend Update stories about someone shaking hands with the first robot in space.
An image was shown and then Seth Meyers nailed it:
Unseen in the photo is the robot whispering... 'Phase One!'
I'm sorry. I laughed. I laughed hard! I am easily amused!
That is very cool and free is always good! Thanks for stopping by my snapshot.
ReplyDeleteThe is one bit of technology that I wouldn't mind having.
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous! I've been thinking about getting one of these to deal with the crazy dog hair in our house, but they are so expensive! I can't believe you got one for free.
ReplyDeleteNice! When she bumps into things, she doesn't say "Pardon me" ? I really could use one of these. Mr B replaced my very light, simple kitchen floor vac with a strap on canister. Needless to say, he does more vacuuming now.
ReplyDeleteWow she sounds terrific! If my youngest dog were older I might run out and buy one too, but Junie B (my newest dog) is still working her way through chewing everything in sight. Congrats on the new member of the family! Sounds like she will pull her weight!
ReplyDeleteWell, if the cats approve, what more can one say!
ReplyDeleteMy brother and SIL have a Roomba and love it! They have named theirs too . . .
ReplyDeleteI must get one of these!!!!
