Sunday Salon - March 24

Hope everyone has had a good week.  I've haven't spent much time blogging or reading blogs this past week but hope to catch up this week. Here's a little summary of how my week went.

We started last Sunday with our family, multi-birthday celebration which included a healthy chicken dish, salad, pizza and carrot cake, and yes we all indulged, but it was a bit of a reward as well as a celebration.

 (4) of us have been involved in a eating healthy and weight loss program for the last (12) weeks. It isn't a competition, but we've all been doing well. The (4) of us have lost  between (9 and 20lbs each) and about 60 lbs between us! I lost (15lbs) as of yesterday and have dropped almost (2) sizes in dress pants already, so I'm pretty excited.  I'm planning on making this a permanent change to the way I eat moving forward, even after I reach my goal weight.

The weather has been all over the  place here, as the daffodils have popped but the snow has not stopped. Still snow on the ground in places and more predicted.  It was really cold and windy the past few days even though Spring has supposedly sprung.

Read but not Reviewed yet
  • American Psycho; Brett Easton Ellis - 5/5 - (audio)
  • One Breath Away; Heather Gudenkauf - 3.5/5 - (audio)
  •  Death of Bees; Lisa O'Donnell - 4/5 (arc)
Now Reading or Listening to:
  • The Storyteller; Jodi Picoult (this may be my last Picoult as I'm not enjoying this one and think I'vr grown tired on her style. I do plan to finish as I'm 3/4 done)
  • Parlor Games; Maryka Biaggio (audio in progress - good)
Tentative Reading Plans for the week:

 Have a great week everyone!

  4. Our weather is crazy here too - our winter was very mild until March hit and then it decided to get cold.

I'm trying to eat healthier too and have cut out snacking. I was eating junk just because it was here, not because I really wanted it.

  9. We're trying to make the switch over to healthier eating as well. When you really start digging in to what we are really eating in processed and fast food, it's actually kindof scary :) Good for ya'll!!

  13. Congrats on the weight loss! That is great! My daffodils look like yours. I hope spring comes soon. I've had enough of winter! Have a great week!

  14. Good for you on your weight loss! 15 lbs is quite an achievement!! I'm trying to hit the treadmill 5 times a week, but something has to change with regard to my meals. I'm not losing any weight!

How disappointing that Picoult's latest isn't a winner. I haven't read her books for a few years now... got burned out on the formula, but when I read the description for this one, I thought it might be worth a try.

Our weather is just like yours. Our daffs are covered in snow, but at least they haven't started to bud. Just the green stalks like yours. I suppose the moisture is doing them good, though, right?

    Have a great week, Diane!

  15. Awesome job on the weight loss!! I'm starting back again. I'm tired of being tired and fat.

Ahhh...what you wrote about Picoult's latest has me shaking my head. I feared you might not care for this and knowing that makes me shy away from wasting time on it. I'm so tired of her formula...it's boring. She's such a gifted writer, why can't she do something different????

  16. I'm sorry to hear that you're not enjoying The Storyteller....I'll be reading it this week, too.

I loved One Breath Away...from your rating, not so much from your end.

Have a great week! And thanks for visiting my blog.

  19. Sounds like you've had a busy week, and congrats on the weight loss! A couple of years ago, I decided I was done with Picoult books - but I really thought I was the only one. I think I need to plant some daffodils - we don't have anything coming up yet. I'm feeling kind of impatient.

  20. Diane, I know how hard it is to lose weight and then maintain that loss. Wishing you all the best and congrats on your success so far!!
I may be the only reader who hasn't read a JP novel. I hope it improves for you at least enough to make finishing worth your time.

  21. Diane, I know what you mean about the hectiness of life. I can't find time to breath lately. Good job with the weight loss and the books you've read.

  22. Well done with your achievements!
I liked The Storyteller, but mainly because of Minka. I think Picoult could write fantastic straight up, no Issues historical fiction.

  23. Congrats on your success! I hope that you share what is working for you in another post. I have read a few JP novels and enjoyed them. Sorry to hear this one isn't working for you, maybe it will turn around.

  24. I keep hearing about the crazy weather in other parts of the country! It's nice here but colder than normal for this time of year. Sunny, but really cold in the morning which is very strange.

Yay on the weight loss! It takes 6 weeks of the flu for me to lose weight.

  25. I'll be interested in reading your review of American Psycho.

  26. Congrats on the weight loss Diane - that's awesome! We're finally getting some warm weather here so maybe, just maybe our snow will start melting. Lol.
