About a month ago I visited the museums in Springfield, MA, located a few towns away from where I grew up.  I hadn't been to back there since my children were little in the 1980s, and although the dinosaurs, and bears in the science museum looked familiar, there was so much new to see, including a brand new building which houses Connecticut Valley history. . -- that was pretty interesting as well as a bit sad to see all the industry that has left the area in the last 30-40 years.  A fun day and trip down memory lane.

Don't think I'd like to live in this teepee.

  5. I'm impressed that you climbed into the teepee. Yes, the native Americans were a tougher breed of people than we are today. Here's Mine

  7. I love these kind of trips...bringing back memories like this just makes me smile. I am eternally grateful that I was born when I was...I am small enough to fit into the teepee but the plumbing facilities would have made me shudder. I mean, seriously, didn't they have a Teepee-Marriott?? Thanks for sharing a great trip!

  9. Oh Diane, isn't it wonderful to go down memory lane esp. the lane where your children were small. Thanks for sharing these photos with us. Looks like an interesting museum. And that it displays history of a Valley makes it all the most unique, a natural history museum.

  16. We've been to Springfield many times but usually to trade shows. I didn't know this museum existed. The next time we go over that way, we'll be sure to investigate. Thanks for the tip.

  24. I can see where the birds would love that sculpture. There were probably more than a few of them hanging out in there. And a Dr. Seuss garden, how cool. I never knew one existed.
