Library Loot - Why Do I Bother?

Sometimes I wonder why I visit the library 2 -3 times a week? It's not because I don't have anything to read (overflowing bookshelves --sound familiar)? Maybe it's just because it's only 2 miles away? or maybe I'll miss sometime interesting on the NEW book shelves ?? No maybe I'm just addicted? Can't stop now? Harmless; free; what can be wrong with this addiction?

I returned (3) books unread today, but look what I brought home (GRIN):

Get anything Good this week?

  2. I struggle with the same addiction but figure it is a pretty nice vice to have :)

Enjoy your new reads, and perhaps you can check out the unread books at another time.

  3. I can't wait to read Alice Hoffman's book. I love her books. The last book I read by her was "Probable Future." I'm behind in catching two or three of her newer books.

  4. I'll tell you why.The same reason I do.It's not just the books,it's the whole atmosphere in a library. The feeling that you are surrounded by some many stories,so much to read so little time. And I think we recapture that wonderful first time feeling the first time we entered a library.I just feel in control and in charge of my life, probably coz I felt so grown up the first time I went to a library and the first time anything was my choice really-I chose my OWN book to read.

  5. Mm, I have this exact same dilemma. Only in my case, the library is just across the street from the building where I work. It is irresistible.

  6. I a total library addict too, and its just driving me nuts! I need to quit going because it just adds to my already overflowing shelf, and I don't seem to get to them before they're due.

I also need to STOP reading the daily Shelf Awareness newsletter! I swear every day, I'm going to layoff the ARC requests until I get caught up, and then...the newsletter comes, and I think.."Hey that one sounds good..." I'm sooo weak!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! (I love the picture in your header...its beautiful!)

  7. Oh, I know what you mean...I had to return DROOD last week unread because by the time I made my way thru the waiting list, I had too many ARCs/blogtour commitments. Now I'm on the waiting list once again!

I love the title of The Moonflower Vine! I've also very curious about The Story Sisters and will be looking forward to your thoughts on the book.

  8. I'm on a bit of a library break but I know what you mean. I used to drive by my library every day and it was hard not to stop in all the time just thinking about the new books and magazines to check out :)

    Enjoy your loot!

  13. Thanks so much for visiting my blog yesterday! I've been scouting around your blog, looking especially at the reading challenges for 2009. Because I am newly retired from teaching English and Comparative Literature at a state university, I will have more time to explore other forms of fiction and broaden my horizons a bit beyond the classics and great books.

I'll be back to read your reviews before making a book choice. :)

  15. LOL--nothing wrong with going to the library! I'm pretty good about reading what's on my own shelves, but I think that's mostly because the library is too far away for me. Soon the one 2 miles from my house will be finished being built, though. Then...who knows! I really liked The Ice Queen by Hofman.

  16. I loved THE STORY SISTERS and here is my review:

And for different reasons, I also loved THE LEISURE SEEKER

    Hope you enjoy them too.

As far as that library ADDICTION, I cannot help you there. LOL I am as bad as you are and I love it! Yesterday I went in the pouring rain and came home with 7 books that have been on my list for a long time. I actually found 11 books but took the time to read the first few pages of each one and decided that 4 did not appeal to me after all.
