Happy Passover ~ Happy Easter
Just wanted to take some time to wish all of you who might celebrate Passover or Easter, a blessed holiday (we celebrate both). The weekend weather is reason enough to celebrate. It was in the 70's and sunny here for the last few days - such a treat for us after so much rain.Did you have a good week?
My first week at my new library job was excellent. Everyone is so very nice, and it is such a relaxed environment. I think they were trying to ease me in super slow, to ensure I would not feel overwhelmed. I finally did a bit of related computer work by the end of the week...LOL. I also got to check out the new books, but I showed amazing restraint and did not bring any home, but did make some notes :) I know I am going to love this job, and it really feels great being back to work, after (11) months. I got up at 5 or 5:30 am each morning, even though I don't need to leave the house until 7:40 a.m. I hate rushing, and this gives me time to relax, surf the web, shower, and eat in an unhurried manner. I am pretty tired in the evenings, but I have been sleeping great! I'm planning on starting a workout plan at the beautiful facilities at work during lunch at least 3 days a week too. Honestly, I would rather spend the hour sitting outdoors and reading, however, the audio books help me to do both so that's the plan. It'll be easier to work out on rainy days I'm sure, but it is one of those benefits that I have no excuse not to use.

Reading stuff:
- I need to review (3) books (some were started last week) - Read, Remember, Recommend: A Reading Journal for Book Lovers; Knight (great book). I saw the challenge resulting from the book, but I am not sure I should take on ANY MORE.- I also read Lost; Lichtenstein (good), and How Not To Look Fat: Over 1,000 ways to look dress thinner WITHOUT DIETING!; Krupp (this one is fabulous - I defrumpped my closets on Saturday, and made a huge Goodwill bag...LOL. Actually, I didn't need to toss out too much as I've tried to dress thinner for years :) I think I made the hub feel guilty as he decided to clean his as well -- it was a win-win all around, so all is good!
- Finish Forty Rules of Love; Shafak (audio - almost done - very good)
- Finish The Season of Second Chances; Meier (very good)
- Begin Bloodroot; Amy Greene (audio)
- Read one non fiction -- I hope!
What's on your reading agenda for the week? Enjoy your Sunday and what ever you have in store..
Sounds like a great new job you have there. I'm glad you found a job being surrounded by the thing you love...books! Not sure about the IPad yet. Too new. I'm always way behind everyone else.
ReplyDeleteI love that picture!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad your job is working out!
Happy Easter and Passover (how nice of them to come at the same time for you!)
We made an impulse purchase today and got an iPad! I got the Kindle app and it took the books that I had read on the iPhone and automatically added them to my iPad Kindle library.
ReplyDeleteIt's really pretty awesome so far and I've heard that the battery life actually turns out to be better than 10 hours. It sure seems that way to us!
Yes, that iPad does sound appealing. Luckily, I don't ahave an ebook reader as yet so have more choices now! I am just scared of buying one and losing it! Is there insurance for that? Happy spring! My Sunday Salon.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that photo! I saw it for the first time and just laughed and laughed!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that job is going to be as wonderful as you had thought. I am impressed with the reading and blogging that you still accomplished this week!
My son would love for me to get an iPad, but for now I will continue using my Kindle 1 and pretend like I am on the cutting edge :)
Happy Easter!!
Morning Diane! I LOVE that photo! We celebrate both Holidays too! I am so glad you're settling in and enjoying your new job! I never thought about you getting to touch those new books first!!
ReplyDeleteI also never thought about listening to an audiobook while I'm working out. I amy have to try that....
And speaking of trying... my DH brought my new iPad home yesterday morning! :D (I had to work, but reserved one!) I love it already. I'm getting use to it still, playing around with it. The color screen is gorgeous! I'm thinking that reading cookbooks off the screen will be a pleasure too! Reading is beautiful. And reading the newspaper is a pleasure. But the iPad is heavier than the Kindle. Something to consider before switching...
Have a wonderful day and week!
Kristen and Suzanne....I am jealous of your new iPads. My husband said he will buy me one for Mother's Day, but knowing him, it may arrive much sooner :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter! I'm glad to see the new job is going so well!
ReplyDeleteDiane, so glad to hear the job is good. I read a good review of the iPad as reader at Dear Author. Interesting. Also, the NY Times had a good review. Whatever you decide, happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI've recently started listening to audiobooks while fitness walking (outside, not on treadmill). I love it! So far, two books in two weeks :)
Good morning. Happy Easter and Passover to all.
ReplyDeleteI do not celebrate Easter but because my mothers side of the family does I am going to a nice family gathering later today. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday.
Diane, I am so happy the job has worked out for you.
I am also looking around to see what I can sell so I can get my hands on an iPad. I don't use my treadmill much anymore...hum, wonder what else is lurking in my house that can go?
We celebrate both holidays in our household as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous of your new job; I would love to work around books.
I've been obsessing about the iPad since Apple first mentioned it, and since I don't have an iPhone, iPod, or ebook reader, I think I of all people, I should have one. Don't you? I mean, don't you feel sorry for me? Just kiddin' lol
Let us all know if you get one. So we can drool. :)
Happy Passover and Easter, Diane! I hope you and your family are having a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteHappy Passover and Easter, Diane! So glad to hear your job is suiting you well.
ReplyDeleteYour photo has me laughing out loud - love it! Glad to hear the first week on the job went well. I am so tempted by the iPad, but will wait until our next big trip to make a final decision.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have a pretty great job :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the job is going well for you!
ReplyDeleteI really want to go play with an iPad soon. I'm very intrigued. I love my iTouch, and sometimes think the only way it could be better would be if it was bigger!
Happy Easter and Passover to you!
Glad to hear your week was great and the new job is going well!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter Diane. I'm thinking of buying the iPad when it gets here. It's not available in Canada until the end of April though so I'll hear all about it before then I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteYour job really does sound terrific. I'm glad you're happy with it!
Glad to hear the job is going well! Maybe you should get the iPad to celebrate. ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter and Passover!
I'm so glad to hear you're enjoying your new job! I can't wait to be done with my MA and start work as a librarian. I'm sure I'm going to love it.
ReplyDeleteI'll echo everyone else and say I'm happy you like (love) your new job.
ReplyDeleteI wonder, though, if it will put a crimp in your reading time and how that will affect all 400 of your challenges.
I'm so happy for you about your new job! It sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday!
Aww...I want to be a ilbrarian! :D
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear all is well at work, Diane!
Glad you had a great week! Happy Easter!
ReplyDeletenot too serious i hope
I am going to wait awhile and see what others have to say about the iPad before I seek one out. I am in technology and buying the first generation of anything is usually not a good idea. I'd much rather them work out the kinks first. I mean, I love Apple but it's hard to get it right the first time out of the gate.
ReplyDeleteThat picture is so funny!
ReplyDeleteI am reading Season of Second Chances too - hope to finish by tomorrow. I am really enjoying it!
Hi Diane, I'm glad you're enjoying your first week of work at the library! You're having my dream job. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI get up from bed at 5.30 a.m. also and reach office by 6.30 a.m. Like you, I don't like rushing and it's great to be able to settle down and plan for the day's work.
Happy Easter to you too!
Your job sounds awesome! I would love to be a librarian. It was my dream job since childhood. Have a good week ahead. I want to know what you decide on the iPad.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture, thanks for the laugh! Glad to hear that your job is going well and how great that you can work out and listen to books! You'll have to let us know what you think if you do get the Ipad.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that makes me hesitate to replace my nook with the iPad is that the screen is not eInk. It's back-lit like a computer screen and I'm afraid it'll be harsh on the eyes. But if you get one, I'd love to know what you think!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new job! I also really like the picture.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter Diane! I hope you had a wonderful day with your family and I am glad that your first week on the job went so well!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the LOL picture! I've always thought libraries and dentist offices would be peaceful places to work. At least you don't have to listen to the elevator music.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear the new job is going well. I have a friend with an iPad and she only has great things to say about it so far.
