We went to a fall festival a few weeks ago and this antique ambulance was on display. Image how many people never made it to the hospital in an emergency situation when this was mode of travel.
What a great picture! Well, I guess it was faster than by horsecart or something like that. LOL
ReplyDeleteYep, we've come a long way from those days!
ReplyDeleteA scary thought... times have definitely changed for the better in this respect!
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing an ambulance like this in the movie The Razors Edge. Cool seeing it in person.
ReplyDeleteHow cool! We saw something sort of similar when we were at the Smithsonian last weekend - it was an old parked Good Humor truck. Thank heavens though the music was not turned on! :--) (And thank heavens for you the sirens were not turned on - although I wonder if it had one? do you know?)
ReplyDeleteHow funny! Luckily there have been vast improvements in transportation and technology.
ReplyDeleteYes, technology is better, but I love these old photos that remind us of our "beginnings."
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Here's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT and
MY WEBSITE
that's a great picture. :-) and yeah, things have changed so much!
ReplyDeleteOh, wow! The driver was exposed to the weather.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very cool wheeled box!
ReplyDeleteHow neat! I have never even visualized an old fashioned ambulance, so it's cool to see one here!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking vehicle, but like you say, imagine what the care would have been like back then

It's great that someone preserved this ambulance. Wouldn't its driver be amazed at the new model?
ReplyDeleteThat makes me really glad I live now and not 100 years ago.
ReplyDeleteProbably more than when they only had horses, but it makes you glad to live in a modern age. Great pic!
ReplyDeleteMy Saturday Snapshot
Wow, I'm just glad we don't have those nowadays. Imagine the time when people went about in horses!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen anything like that! I do imagine it would have to be faster than horses, but that looks like the only positive. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, that's so neat! I can imagine it was a bumpy ride in there. :)
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine what the people from that time period would think of our fast paced lives now. I'm sure when that ambulance was in service it was considered fast. Kind of interesting to see how far we have come.
ReplyDeleteWow! I´ve never seen one this old (an ambulance that is) only regular cars!

Things sure have changed!
ReplyDeleteThe ambulance looks alot like a military truck. I winder if they started that way?
ReplyDeleteI love that old ambulance, there is just something about old cars that I find so much fun
ReplyDeleteI'm glad we have our modern medical advancements but this does make me wish the times we lived in were more simple.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how far we've come, isn't it? As much as I love some of our high techie stuff I often wonder if the old days weren't the better days. Unless of course you were a patient in that ambulance!
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to know we've grown in that respect. Great photo though.
ReplyDeleteWow! Those tires don't look much bigger than bicycle tires. Must have been a bumpy ride for the patients.
ReplyDeleteI'm running late on posting this week...but I have a really good reason.

I love that vintage model. But we have come a long way. It is a good thing for medical technology!
ReplyDeleteHere is my Saturday Snapshot post!
It's quite astounding to see progress going in leaps and bounds.
ReplyDeleteIt's not just the transport that has modernised thankfully. Great photo. Interesting to ponder.
ReplyDeleteI love it!
ReplyDeleteHow interesting! Just look at the steering wheel! Imagine if it was pouring rain!
ReplyDeleteWow what an interesting picture. I don't think I've ever seen an antique ambulance before.
