Have a great week everyone!
The Tokyo Fiance was an interesting book. A look at students from Europe in Japan and the relationship of two people in the two cultures. Does one take advantage of the other?
ReplyDeleteAfter two weeks of company and blowing my diet, I'm spending the rest of the summer getting back on track! The heat keeps me indoors as well. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI've been doing a lot more reading than reviewing the past couple of weeks, too... and have been indoors almost all week due to the heat. It's beautiful and cool today, so we have plenty of outdoor activity to look forward to! Have a good week, Diane.
ReplyDeleteWe had promised each other that we would get to some baseball games this summer, go to fairs and festivals, and various other fun things, but so far all we've done is go to a couple concerts in a park. Didn't even get to the parade and fireworks on the 4th. The heat bothers Dave too much and I have to be cautious. Since we don't have A/C, we've been sitting indoors with the fans on. I do hope I'll get to our Blueberry Festival in a couple weeks; the book sale is tremendous. And hopefully we'll get to our county fair and the NY State Fair. No traveling this year.
ReplyDeleteI think you need to right a book about how you read so many books, it is so amazing to me!
ReplyDeleteSummer in Texas is just too hot for my taste. I'm anxiously awaiting our vacation :)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your review of the Lionel Shriver book. I still haven't read anything by her!
It's been hot and humid here as well. I have not read as much as I'd like to lately. Enjoy your new books, Diane!
ReplyDeleteWe've had a very strange summer - lots of rains which has kept our temperatures very moderate.
ReplyDeleteI'm way behind on reviews too.
Looking forward to your review of the Shriver book - but, yeah, hot summer does NOT = lots of productivity. Btw, along with ms bermudaonion, I've nominated you for a Liebster Award - it's a kind of internet hug thing. Check out my post to see how it works. A bit of a lark -

Sim, Thanks so much for thinking of me for the award -- very sweet of you.
DeletePlease forgive me for not passing it on though:(
I hear you on the reviews. I'm lucky if I can keep my number of reviews to write under 10. It's been hovering around 6 or 7 all summer long, and I can't seem to muster the interest to write more often to get rid of the backlog. Oh well. That's what winter is for, right?
ReplyDeleteLike the look of Tokyo Fiancé and glad to hear Big Brother was good. I really dislike humid weather - I just want to lounge around and stay away from the (hot) computer!
ReplyDeleteThe humidity is my nemesis ;-)
ReplyDeletePeople have gushed about the Disclafani book so I hope you love it!
Those new books are also "new" to me, but look tempting. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog.
You've got some good reading going this summer! We arrived in NYC yesterday and the humidity is yucky. I am SO not used to that since Santa Barbara is a dry heat.
ReplyDeleteI have both your current reads but haven't gotten to them yet. I'm not as motivated to write reviews as I am to read either but I'll catch up eventually.
ReplyDeleteIt's been hot here in the Midwest too but I think you've had more awful days than us. I hate being inside in the summer so I've been doing outdoor stuff and then running inside to cool off in the a/c and then back out. I have a big awning on my deck so I still read out there until the humidity make me melt.
I really enjoyed Always Watching, it was my first time reading Chevy Stevens.
ReplyDeleteI have read most of Amelie Nothomb's work (though in French) and usually really like her style. Her books are usually short but intriguing!
Happy reading!
Love your new cover photo! I am not a big fan of the heat (actually its really the humidity that gets to me!). Glad you have had a lot of good books to get you through!
ReplyDeleteI've gotten the same way with the heat Diane and I used to love it as well sitting outside all the time. I'm sorry to say I haven't really accomplished much of anything this summer other than reading. Lol.
ReplyDeleteWill look for your review of The Y. Riding School.
ReplyDeleteI have it scheduled to read in a few weeks.

Silver's Reviews
My Mailbox Monday
I have the Riding School book.. who came up with that title! Geesh, it's a mouthful.
ReplyDeleteI am not in a reading mood right now. I am just too grumpy and whiny to read. I tried to last night and just got frustrated. I have to do what Billy Crystal did in When Harry Met Sally. Just sit in bed and groan so I can get it out of my system.
Great reviews to come soon!! I've been disinterested in reading/blogging right now, and I couldn't even tell you why! Looks like finally all of this heat will be moving out of Michigan tonight. I'm hoping to work upstairs tomorrow on my book/scrap (junk) room but without air conditioning I have no ambition to do much!! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI've been doing... next to nothing. trying to stay upright in the heat has been enough. those europas look great! I liked tokyo fiancee and the piperno is my pile.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting behind on my reviews too! At this point, I'm listening to a lot of audiobooks and not taking the time to review them.
