July Reading Update ~ August Plans

Join Deb and others HERE

July was a good reading month, after all I was home most of the time and since I'm pretty tired of news and television in general.  I enjoyed everything I read so this is a first for me in a while but, that is probably because I abandoned (2) books that just were not working for me:

  2. I am glad you had a good reading month, Diane! The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is one of my favorite Christie novels. Your new books all sound so good. I am really excited about Anxious People. I've enjoyed Backman's novels in the past, but even if that one wasn't by him, I would want to read it based on the description. I hope you enjoy all of your August reads! Have a great August, Diane. Take care.

  3. You had a fabulous reading month during July. Nothing under a 4/5. Except for the two you abandoned, but, hey, at least you didn't try to push yourself to read something you weren't enjoying. I'm a big fan of Katherine Center, and I loved reading this last book of hers set near me in Galveston with a school librarian as the main character.

And all the books you are planning to read for August look great, too. I'm especially interested in Anxious People.

Look at The Two Mrs. Carrolls. We just requested two Humphrey Bogart movies from the library. I wonder if that one is available there or online.

  5. I watched The Two Mrs. Carrols this week! Barbara Stanwyck is such a good actress. What a month of reading you had. Looks like some interesting titles.

  7. That's a very good reading month! I feel I'm too old now to carry on with books I'm not really enjoying, so well done for abandoning them.

  8. Great list of books; how can we already be in August?! I feel like I need some days off from all the work I've done this summer. Maybe when school starts I'll have some time to relax. :-)

  14. I am in awe of people who manage to read more than ten books a month. For me, ten would be a big month. Thanks to your review, I now have Our Fathers on my TBR list and hope to get to it soon.

  15. Home Before Dark was so good! Hmm, I thought Murder on Cape Cod was pretty good. I liked her parrot & tiny house. Enjoy your August reads! I'm hoping to read The Caretakers soon.

  16. You had a great month of reading, didn't you?! I'm eager to get a copy of Writers and Lovers, as well as What You Wish For.

July felt like the longest month ever and I'm hopeful that August will feel somewhat normal, now that our weather is warming up and beginning to feel more like summer.

  17. You read quite a bit. I like the books you have set for August, too.
I am reading Coben's new one, The Boy From the Woods. It started kind of weird and I wasn't sure I was going to stick with it but now I am into it. August, already. My daughter starts school on Tuesday, online for sure for the first five weeks.

  21. Nice! It's not every month that all your reads are good ones. I'm excited for the new Sager book. I'm also really liking Katherine Center, although I've only read two of her books so far. Happy August!
