Bibliomania Day

Did you know . . . that today is Bibliomania Day? On March 20, 1990, Stephen Blumberg of Ottumwa, Iowa, was arrested for stealing over 23,600 books worth $20 million and weighing 19 tons. So look out for a the "bookey-man"!

Like many book thieves, Blumberg was also a book lover. "It was his habit to read constantly through the night, cat-napping, waking, reading, dozing, waking, reading again, never fully sleeping. "

Kim tagged me (you will pay for this Kim): I don't want to suffer her wrath by not doing as instructed.

Are there any books you would like to beg, borrow, or steal? yes for sure
Are you addicted to trips to Borders or the public library? library only
Do you have a way to remember what books you have read? yes - journal and Good Reads account.
When did your love of books begin? grade school
What is a favorite book? Too many, I'd hate to pick just one.
Author? Again, I have several favorites.
Do you still have in your possession a book borrowed, but not returned to its rightful owner? no, I'm good about that one
What's the most in library fines you have owed? zero - library employees don't pay fines, I did ruin one book and paid the replacement cost of: The Story of Edgar Sawtelle
Do you loan books out to others? I prefer not to, at least until I've read it, but then I don't mind. How do you keep track of them? I'd rarely want it back if I read it.

Tag -- You're caught! And are being brought in for questioning . . . submit a post or suffer the consequences.

  10. Diane, thanks (I think?) for tagging me. It's too late tonight to do this meme but I'll try to do it tomorrow or Monday.

What do you mean library employees don't pay fines? Do they not at your library? Heck, we sure do at mine!!

  12. The last library I worked in for 7 years, library employees did not pay late fines. If you lost of damaged a book you paid though.

I'm not sure about my new library as it is a different system.

  13. Oh... I didn't know that there's a bibliomania day! I've always wanted to be a librarian but even in school, I never got the chance. I ended up being a prefect, monitor, and a host of other positions EXCEPT the one that I wanted most! Oh well... I am a librarian to my personal library now. Hehe...
