Saturday Snapshot - October 1

Saturday Snapshot is hosted by Alyce @ AT Home With Books.
Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don't post random photos that you find online.

We went to a fall festival a few weeks ago and this antique ambulance was on display.  Image how many people never made it to the hospital in an emergency situation when this was mode of travel.

  1. What a great picture! Well, I guess it was faster than by horsecart or something like that. LOL

  4. I remember seeing an ambulance like this in the movie The Razors Edge. Cool seeing it in person.

  5. How cool! We saw something sort of similar when we were at the Smithsonian last weekend - it was an old parked Good Humor truck. Thank heavens though the music was not turned on! :--) (And thank heavens for you the sirens were not turned on - although I wonder if it had one? do you know?)

  6. How funny! Luckily there have been vast improvements in transportation and technology.

  7. Yes, technology is better, but I love these old photos that remind us of our "beginnings."

  12. It's great that someone preserved this ambulance. Wouldn't its driver be amazed at the new model?

  13. That makes me really glad I live now and not 100 years ago.

  14. Probably more than when they only had horses, but it makes you glad to live in a modern age. Great pic!

  15. Wow, I'm just glad we don't have those nowadays. Imagine the time when people went about in horses!

  16. I've never seen anything like that! I do imagine it would have to be faster than horses, but that looks like the only positive. :)

  17. Oh, that's so neat! I can imagine it was a bumpy ride in there. :)

  18. Can you imagine what the people from that time period would think of our fast paced lives now. I'm sure when that ambulance was in service it was considered fast. Kind of interesting to see how far we have come.

  22. I'm glad we have our modern medical advancements but this does make me wish the times we lived in were more simple.

  23. It's amazing how far we've come, isn't it? As much as I love some of our high techie stuff I often wonder if the old days weren't the better days. Unless of course you were a patient in that ambulance!

  24. It's wonderful to know we've grown in that respect. Great photo though.

  25. Wow! Those tires don't look much bigger than bicycle tires. Must have been a bumpy ride for the patients.

I'm running late on posting this week...but I have a really good reason.
