Sunday Salon - May 20th

It was so great to be off from work this past week, and to get spend lots of time with my first grandchild.  Did I tell you i can't take my eyes off her? Although she lost almost (1) lb her first week, she's now an eating machine and gaining about an ounce a day, and the doctor is pleased.

After 35 years without a baby around, and just cats for us and our kids, we have this habit of referring to the pediatrician as "the vet" and the baby's hands as her "paws".  I know it sounds ridiculous but when your use to mothering cats, it's actually pretty easy to interchange those (2) words:)

(what a difference 4 weeks makes)

I did get to do a few other things this week as well, like planting (3) purple rhododendrons, (1) bleeding heart, some columbine, a pink hydrangea and lots of potted plants as well.

I also got to go to a library book sale on Friday, but actually on bought (3) books and (2) DVDs.

As for reading, I finished Stephen King's, Gingerbread Girl - a short novella (good) and am currently listening to Cammie McGovern's, Neighborhood Watch.  I started,  The Land of Decoration by Grace McCleen as well.

I also watched a great movie with Mel Gibson called Edge of Darkness (we actually saw it at the movies some time ago but was worth watching again).

Well back to work tomorrow, but it's really just (3) days of work as we have a picnic on Thursday and then I'm off for (4) days for Memorial Day weekend.

Hope you all are having a fabulous weekend. The weather has been awesome here.

  1. Your granddaughter looks lovely! I can't believe that you refer to her in cat-terms. Terrible! :-)

I've got a very tiny purple rhododendron which I planted earlier this spring. I'm hoping it will be big and strong soon. It's fun working in the garden now the weather gets better.

    Have a nice short week!

  7. There is nothing like a granddaughter! Yes, grandsons are nice, too, but the girls are our little princesses...lol

I have three sons and one daughter, so I thought I would make up for it in granddaughters; not so. Only two of them, with five grandsons.

She is beautiful, Diane, and I know you're going to enjoy every minute! Thanks for sharing.

  9. I have The Land of Deciration, too, but I'm so behind in my promised reviews! Looking forward to discussing Irving's latest with you.

Love the photograph if your beautiful granddaughter; and it makes perfect sense to refer to kitty parts after so many years with them. ;)

  12. What a wonderful way to spend your time off! She has such a worldly look about her for someone so little. I just caught Edge of Darkness on t.v. today but I was trying to get things done around the house so I was missing as much as I was getting - very hard to keep up with!

  14. She is so beautiful!! Babies lose weight the 1st month, the doc told me that when we were startled by Aarya's weight loss in his 1st month :) I just keep going back to her pic.... she has such cute cheeks.

  15. What a cutie. She is adorable. Glad to see you had a relaxing week off. Sometimes the best vacation is not going anywhere for vacation.

I had to laugh at "the vet". Maybe if you switch to "the doc" it will work for both pets and babies. :)

  16. No wonder you can't keep your eyes off of her. If her parents didn't take her sometimes I suppose you wouldn't ever get anything done! :D I think the only thing cuter than a kitten is a baby, especially a grandchild.

  23. I LOLed about clling thw pediatrician 'the vet' and the baby's hands 'paws'and I understand completely. Around here it's common for us to call each other by one of the cat's names...it just happens!

Your granddaughter is beautiful! It's wonderful you spent much of the week with her. She looks so much bigger and alert.

I want to read some Stephen King so I may try Gingerbread Girl!

  27. She is just gorgeous!!! It sounds like you had a great weekend! I'm planning on picking up The Stand by King for a read-a-long. I'm super nervous because it is HUGE but I just can't resist! And knocking it off my ever growing TBR list will be a big bonus :) Hope you have a great upcoming week!
