Sunday Salon - Busy Weekend

Normally our weekends are pretty relaxed, but this weekend is anything but. Saturday afternoon we drove to Boston for a baseball game at Fenway....yahoo

The best part is that we had FREE tickets, but since the tickets were complimentary Diamond Back tickets - no Boston Red Sox hats or shirts can be worn...LOL (I love the Red Sox, but honestly do not even own a SOX shirt so no problem:)  We also get to spend some time with my husband's niece who is here from Arizona.  It was a great game, perfect weather and the Sox won. We never got home until 1:00AM so I am pretty beat this morning.

 Final Score -- SOX 5 and D-Backs - 2

Today we are taking the little one to the zoo (exciting for the animal lover in me). I am probably more excited about visiting zoos that the most adults.

About Books This week I've been listening to The Cuckoo's Calling; Galbraith (JK Rowling) and am enjoying it). I also am reading/listening too The Last Camellia; Sarah Jio - very good and reading The Quarry; Iain Banks (just okay).

I reviewed a few kids books yesterday and will also be posting a review for a gardening book that I loved....stay tuned.

Plans for the Week
  • Review: a gardening book, a cookbook, and a fiction book
  • Read: finish - The Cuckoo's Calling; The Quarry and The Last Camellia and start something new (a print and an audio book)
  • Diet and Exercise: Refocus - more exercise now that it is not as hot or humid
What are your plans for today and the coming week?

  1. I love going to baseball games but they're so expensive so free tickets are wonderful! Does sound like a great day!

  2. You are very lucky going to Fenway to a game. How fun is that! We live in sunny Florida. We get the spring training games. My husband has the cleaning contract for the new stadium and so we go for free a couple times each season.

Sounds like you all had fun. Nothing like baseball in summer.

  3. A baseball game sounds perfect for the summer weather we're finally having!

  4. I picked up The Cuckoo's Calling from the library yesterday. I'm really curious to see if it lives up to all the wonderful things that were said about it (before the big reveal). We are still stuck with high humidity and heat for a few more weeks - a good excuse to stay inside & read.

  5. I miss going to baseball games! When we lived in Texas, we'd go to the Ballpark at Arlington quite often. We were big Ranger fans!

I'm anxious to hear what you think of The Cuckoo's Calling, as well as Jio's latest. Last week I finished Violets in March and I think I'm in the minority. I wasn't as impressed with it as other bloggers.

I need to get out and walk now that it's cooling off here, too. We were at 71 last night when we were out for ice cream after dinner with friends. I told my husband I was almost cold! Today is overcast with rain in forecast. It's almost 11:00 and only 68!!

  6. I haven't been to a baseball game yet this summer, but there's still time to remedy that. Glad you had a great time!

I was just thinking that I need to get back to a regular walking/exercise routine now that the weather is a little cooler.

    Hope it's a good week :-)

Super glad that you had a great time!
I also need to begin walking again!

  10. Wooo hooo! Go Sox! Good to know the Rowling book is a far better work than The Casual Vacancy ...

  11. Sounds like a great weekend. I have a soft spot for the Red Sox and I look forward to hearing about your time at the zoo with your granddaughter, and hope you will share photos. The Red Sox were the first baseball team I ever saw after coming to the US. We watched a double header with Gregg's step-grandfather who was a huge Red Sox fan, in the days of Yaz! Great memories as it was the first time I met his grandpa and he was such a dear sweet man, and the double header, that was a great experience.

  13. How fun! I love going to baseball games. It's been forever since I last went to one. And zoos are fun too! We went to the L.A. Zoo last month and had a great time.

I have Cuckoo's Calling on my to read list. I keep thinking I should go ahead and begin reading it, but something is stopping me. They hype it's been getting since word of the author's true identity has come out, maybe? I'm not sure.

I hope you have a great week, Diane!
