Last official month of summer here, as once Labor Day comes, September 2, this year, we pretty much consider summer over here in New England.
July was a banner reading month for me as it was slow at work which allowed me to listen to more audiobooks at work each week. I could get use to that. Here is what my July in books looked like:
- Tenth of December: Stories; George Saunders - 3.5/5 - audio - July 2013
- Dog-Gone School; Amy and Ron Schmidt - 5/5 - eGalley - July 2013
- Penguin Cha-Cha; Kristi Valiant - 3.5/5 - eGalley - July 2013
- The Woman Upstairs; Claire Messud - 4/5 - print - July 2013
- After Her; Joyce Maynard - 4/5 - eGalley - July 2013
- The Translator; Nina Schulyer - 4/5 -eGalley - July 2013
- Inferno; Dan Brown - 3.5/5 - audio - July (no review yet)
- Big Brother; Lionel Shriver - 4/5 - arc/eGalley - July 2013
- Always Watching; Chevy Stevens - 3.5/5 - audio - July 2013
- Too Bright Too Hear, Too Loud to See;Juliann Garey - 3.5/5 - eGalley/audio- July 2013
- You are Stardust; Elin Kelsey and Soyean Kim - 5/5 - library - July 2013
- Henri, le Chat Noir: The Existential Musings of an Angst-Filled Cat; WIlliam Braden - 5/5 - my shelves - July 2013
- We Need To Talk About Kevin; Lionel Shriver 4.5/5 - (audio book and movie)
- The Yonahlossee Riding Camp for Girls; Anton DiScalfani -audio and eGalley - 4/5 - July 2013
- The Mouse-Proof Kitchen; Saira Shah - 4.5/5 (eGalley) July-2013
(I can't believe I waited so long to read this book. As I mentioned in earlier post watched the movie version immediately after finishing the book, and thought it was very good as well.)

Happy August Everyone
I've read The Illusion of Separateness - I thought it was a small gem of a novel.
ReplyDeleteI also read Big Brother during July - I had an awkward relationship with it though - as my review of it will explain.

I'm glad you had a great July. Enjoy the last month of summer. It looks like you have a great line up for August.
ReplyDeleteHappy to see Half a Yellow Sun on the Backlist Book Club schedule... hope I can read it this month, too.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't already have a print copy, the audio version of Calling Me Home is excellent!
Totally impressed by the amount of reading you did this month! And yes, as a native New Englander, I completely agree with your assessment of summer being 100% over on Labor Day. :) Enjoy August!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! In August I will be re-reading my July list.
ReplyDeleteI liked Always Watching more than you... perhaps because mine was print? Sometimes audios can affect my thoughts afterward.
ReplyDeleteHappy August reading!
Great reading month! My July was slow due to wedding stuff, I hope to dedicate August to reading.
ReplyDeleteYou had a successful July! I like your August TBR stack. I just won a copy of The Last Camellia (yay!). Still waiting on The Never List from the library...
ReplyDeleteProdigal Summer is the only book I have read on your list. It was so good. Kinsolver never disappoints! I really want to read the Sara Jio. I await your review. I read The End of your Life Book Club. A+ Thanks for the recommendation. Enjoy the lazy, hazy, crazy days of August!
