Sunday Blatherings and New Books

How's everyone doing today?  Remember how I told you how much I enjoyed being housebound Wednesday (no work and 10" of snow)? Well, I'm pretty much over that feeling and ready for Spring!  Friday was my husband's birthday and he got so many phone calls and cards, more than ever before.  He said he wonders if people think he is just so old that maybe he won't make it to the next birthday:0  Seriously, it was a special day and we started celebrating with last Sunday's family brunch, a homemade cake by me on Friday as well as a dinner out at a favorite restaurant.

I received several new books over the last (2) weeks.  One in particular was a book, The Science of Skinny, was one that one of my friends that I've know way back from high school has raved about.  I haven't read it yet, but it pretty much entails purging your pantry and freezer of ALL processed foods, and how sugar feeds cancer. Scary stuff but worth a look.

Other books received were:
Have a great Sunday all.

  4. I'm with you about the snow. I kind of made my own snow day on Wednesday and it was nice. But the snow is still here and it's so cold and I'm pretty well over it. I'd like to see at least some small sign that this winter might eventually actually end. Lol!

Happy belated birthday to your Hubs, and happy reading to you - looks like you got some excellent reading material this week! =)

  8. Oh, Diane! Your grand girl is beautiful. My grands are my favorite perk of aging. I have The Girl You Left Behind by Moyes to read. The new JoJo you have will be on my TBR very long list. Happy Birthday to your hubby!

  9. I really need to read Jojo Moyes. I keep thinking her books sound good but then I don't read her...

  10. Happy Birthday to your husband. I haven't heard about the Science of Skinny, but I'm flirting with the idea of the 5:2 diet, fasting 2 days a week. It's supposed to help with cholesterol, blood pressure, and mental sharpness. Here's hoping.

  12. We were stuck inside most of last week because of snow. The 8" predicted turned into 14+. It's only fun for a while, and then we get stir crazy, lol.

  16. Happy Birthday husband!

I found some great new books today on netgalley, only to find the ones I'm interested in on your blog (ha).

Winter has been a true winter this year - wow. Even I'm looking forward to spring and not wearing layers of gear to be outside. ;)

  17. Hasn't this been a terrible winter? You've been getting dumped on with snow and I've suffered through 38 days of sub-zero temperatures. At least there has been plenty to read! Happy belated birthday to your husband! Sounds like the celebrations were wonderful.
