July Reading in a Nutshell and thoughts for August

Last official month of summer here, as once Labor Day comes, September 2, this year, we pretty much consider summer over here in New England.

July was a banner reading month for me as it was slow at work which allowed me to listen to more audiobooks at work each week. I could get use to that.  Here is what my July in books looked like:
Excluding the (3) kids books I read and enjoyed, my favorite book, albeit disturbing was :

(I can't believe I waited so long to read this book. As I mentioned in earlier post watched the movie version immediately after finishing the book, and thought it was very good as well.)

Plans for August
(Have you read and loved any of these?)
Happy August Everyone

  1. I've read The Illusion of Separateness - I thought it was a small gem of a novel.

I also read Big Brother during July - I had an awkward relationship with it though - as my review of it will explain.

  3. Happy to see Half a Yellow Sun on the Backlist Book Club schedule... hope I can read it this month, too.

If you don't already have a print copy, the audio version of Calling Me Home is excellent!

  4. Totally impressed by the amount of reading you did this month! And yes, as a native New Englander, I completely agree with your assessment of summer being 100% over on Labor Day. :) Enjoy August!

  6. I liked Always Watching more than you... perhaps because mine was print? Sometimes audios can affect my thoughts afterward.
    Happy August reading!

  9. Prodigal Summer is the only book I have read on your list. It was so good. Kinsolver never disappoints! I really want to read the Sara Jio. I await your review. I read The End of your Life Book Club. A+ Thanks for the recommendation. Enjoy the lazy, hazy, crazy days of August!
