Welcome to First Chapter/Intros, now hosted by Yvonne @ Socrates Book Reviews. Each week readers post the first paragraph (or 2) of a book they are reading or that they plan to read soon.

First Things
"I always thought of my city as a woman. But the house, it turned out, was a woman too. When the quake hit, she groaned. Her timbers strained to hold on to their pins, the pins snapping. And the rocks beneath the house? They had voices too. And if I ever wondered how long it would take for the world to end, I know: forty-five seconds."
I haven't started this one yet but hope to later this week. What do you think, read more or pass?
Wow, what an intriguing book! Great excerpt, too. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteIntriguing opener, but I have no sense at all of where this one is going yet...so I'd keep right on reading.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds so good, we'd sure read more!
ReplyDeleteI did not know it started with an earthquake! A little too close to home for where I live, LOL, but I am tempted.
ReplyDeleteI'd keep reading, Diane!
ReplyDeleteI like that intro. I love the cover. I'd want to read more.
